I mean they’ve got Tocchet now. So they likely practice clutching+grabbing, cross checks in the crease, and how to dump in without chasing.
He’s probably also carefully coaching hughes on how to dive in front of shots.

Their white board sessions consist of Tochett drawing an arrow to the bench area to show Kravtsov where he will be spending he last 10 minutes of any game that is remotely close.

You guys realize that someone unironically (or ironically I have no idea) pumping Kravstov for 2 years and has still unrelinquished the ridiculousness has completely soiled their credibility for hockey takes, right? You don’t gotta argue about it lol

Kakko is afraid to shoot the puck, it’s a confidence issue. He’s highly aware his shot has problems but he needs to use it in order to work out of it. And if the rangers generated more rebounds to get more shots, it’s no big deal. But our offense is really centered around doing the most during that one possession because we don’t get second and third chances.

That’s the biggest issue I see with our offense when watching other teams. A lot of our issues would be solved if the players moved their legs and went and shot it for rebounds. Enough with this shooting into the goalies chest or wide for rebounds, it’s bs. So what you didn’t score? Shoot it as soon as possible giving the goalie and everyone else less time to react. Create chaos.

I don’t know where they get the directive they should just stand and not go to the net. That seems more like a mental thing, cause I’m sure gallant wants that too.

*throws side eye to panarin, Mika, Kreider” …and it was like that under Quinn too but they didn’t listen… if gallant gets fired, there should be some personnel changes.

…now add even more of those float players and the problem is going to get worse

No one actually knows if it was unironically. I just mostly assumed he was a massive troll and ignored him on even his non VK takes.

Anyone worried about the Rangers missing the playoffs? I saw some Rangers fans on twitter getting a little nervous looking at the standings. Montreal, Buffalo and Pittsburgh. 3 games in 5 nights. The Rangers are playing a game every other night until March 25. Montreal won't be an easy game. The Habs lost in a shootout last night at home to Carolina after they were up 2-0 and 3-2.

Frank Seravalli discussed the future salary cap projections in his podcast a few days ago. If the NHL and NHLPA don't make a deal on the cap this summer, the cap in 24-25 will go up by $8M that summer if it's linked to revenue after the players pay off their debts assuming the players don't pay it off this season. He discussed the Bally Sports TV situation. He does some work for them. He believes Sinclair is looking to reorganize their debt but they will continue to pay their rights fees. The AT&T regional sports networks are looking to leave the business. Penguins, Vegas and Seattle.

Not worried at all about missing the playoffs this year. Buffalo/Ottawa are 11 points back and Florida/Washington are 9 and 11 back and we have 2 games in hand on them both. I don’t see Florida making up 9-10 points in 17 games and nor do I see the others making up 11-12 points depending on how ROWs breaks down.

I'm more worried about dropping into a spot where we have to play Boston first round than missing
That would require us to drop 2 full spots. Im not saying rest everyone, but even .500 hockey likely keeps us where we are.

So, the guy who scored 52 freaking goals last year should've been on the 3rd line so, maybe, Lafreniere develops and puts up better numbers?

That means that that production would never have happened for the sake of a maybe and for a guy who is crystal clearly more comfortable playing with Kakko and Chytil than he is anywhere else.

Some of the conjecture and speculation around here is truly startling.
We have a fundamental difference of opinion.

I do not believe it was more important to the long term health of the franchise to make sure that CK got top line minutes and top PP responsibilities so that he could be the 25-30 goal scoring player he is. His 52, while amazing is the outlier. He may end with 35 this year and while that's nice, IMHO, it's more detrimental to the development of a player whose importance to this team and franchise, again, my opinion, trumps what CK will provide.

In usual NYR fashion, we are sacrificing youth for vets, but not in the normal way of trading them.

NYR fans claimed they wanted a rebuild, but they didn't REALLY want a rebuild as that entails actually playing your top prospects in important roles and situations and dealing with all of the downside that comes with that.

Brooks was talking about next season. Lafreniere will be a top six winger on LW. The Rangers will be looking for right wingers with Kane and Tarasenko leaving after this season. No one expects either player to return.

Is he insinuating Kreider or Panarin getting moved?

Cost is an issue but limiting Panarin's minutes at even strength to use him as a powerplay specialist of sorts makes sense to expand Laf's role if you want to and preserve Panarin as he ages. You play into his strengths and hide his weaknesses.

Personally I don't think it's time for that yet. As much as they're scapegoated, Kreider and Panarin are still both really good players at even strength.

I don't even think a version of Laf closer to his hype supplants them tbh.

The "move on from Panarin" meme is quickly becoming not my favorite.

If you wanna watch this team "backcheck hard against Boston" or whatever the f*** to a 31-31-10 record without this guy, leave me out.

He struggled, but it bothers me that he got 16 games and 7'3" Ben Harpur has played 27 already.

A lot of teams around the league still think being 8 inches closer to the ceiling (not much when you think about it) is somehow an inherent skill even you accomplish absolutely nothing with it.

And that's a tree like Harpur. Normal players have 3, 4 inches on Jones. Does it really matter?

I hate to Harp on it (har har!) but you can't tell me Jones doesn't get a whole season to work it out if he's 6'2".

If you don't believe me, Braden Schneider.

This post should be pinned. Outstanding!
