I know Trouba had a point on the pp the other day on the Laf tip but come on. How is Miller not running that blue line on the 2nd unit. Trouba can not move at the blueline

We wanted Lafreniere on the first pp unit for years now. Now it happens at the expense of Mika and Kreider lol

I mean I'm willing to see them try anything out but taking the guy who has been the top PP goal scorer for the team this season (and is what, second in the league?) off the unit that has Fox, Panarin and Kane on it seems dumb. Those 3 should be setting Mika up.

They should be trying the same personnel as last game but with Panarin in the bumper spot and have Panarin and Mika swapping positions back and forth.

Honestly, I'm not upset.

The PP has been SO predictable all season. A major shakeup was needed to get the guys to do something different.
you're not wrong about that. It has been painfully stagnant and predictable the only thing is I don't see these pp units staying together for very long. I mean Zibby and Kreider not on the first unit? that will last for like 2 periods.

Unpopular opinion but I think Miller stinks on the PP. I love his game offensively at even strength but something about being up top on the PP he just seems indecisive and clumsy, his passes are very often in people's skates. A lot of times he gets the puck up top and it seems like he's not sure what to do with it. He's not great getting pucks through in traffic and he's not particularly good at holding the blue line.

I may be on an island here but I think Trouba is actually better on the PP than Miller at this point in time. I was all for getting Trouba off the unit and putting Miller in his spot but what I saw wasn't really that impressive. Again, just my opinion.

My major concern with Trouba up top on the PP is he's so slow that he's going to lead to breakaways and odd man rushes against. Fox isn't fast either but he's so elite at holding the blue line and making insane passes with pressure in his face that it rarely happens, Trouba is way more likely to be picked off or have a shot blocked and them go the other way and in those situations he skates like Dan Girardi with his skates on the wrong feet.

This is some wild ass galaxy brain shit.

I'd be pissed if I was getting turfed for Kane/Panarin bromance from 7 years ago.

Zib and Kreider probably just took it though. Guess that's an upside to those kinds of personalities.

come the playoffs Trouba better not be on the 2nd unit. I don't care if they get 5.8 seconds of pp time. He is a disaster penalty or pk goal against waiting to happen.

I actually agree with this. The unit has been too predictable for too long, shaking things up a bit can't hurt. If separating the talent like this ends up working now you have two units that can be ready to go at any time.

The only thing I really really really wish they'd experiment with is using Fox on both units. He's so far and away the best PP defenseman on this team that if you have him QBing both units I think they could both be super dangerous. Having Trouba up ton on PP2 is going to hold it back.

Everyone’s an issue on that unit tbh. They’re out of ideas.

I expect changes no doubt, to shake things up, but the guy that scores a lot of PP goals being demoted? I just don't agree with that. However, I do have a feeling Gallant is going to run a 1A and 1B type PP now. Instead of a 1 and 2,

Lines aren't a big deal. Little too much passing from Panarin and Kane the last few games. Powerplay looked the best with Tank on the other side I think. Likely the team has the passing crew and the shooting crew. 1 unit clearly would look for a setup play with Laf or Tro in front and the other unit is there to just hammer pucks to the net. 2 different types of attack and that could be tough on teams. They have to prepare for both and if one is their weakness, you ride that unit.

Good to see Brod up. Hopefully Motte recovers soon, but Brod as the 13th is good.
