This is the Thomas I am interested. He won a OHL championship in Hamilton and was great in the 2019 playoffs. I don’t know what happened this year but if there was ever a buy low candidate, this is the guy.
Let me give you a thought...Matthew Robertson for Robert Thomas. St Louis needs youth and size on defense. Thomas is a very desirable asset.

Re: Edmonton...I don’t think they are moving on from their big guys but if they were ever stupid enough to let Dave Tippett go, he’s the guy I would want to coach the Rangers. I watched him knit smoke year after year in Arizona with undermanned rosters. Edmonton’s roster looks like a third world country.

Tippett is excellent developing young players and always builds a strong team from the back end out. For many years, I’ve felt he was the best coach in the NHL.

I mean, is it written in the rules? It’s not like the other team and us won’t be compliant with what needs to be exposed to Seattle? Why would they care how it’s done just as long as teams are exposing players still. Unless there’s a specific rule against it I don’t see why it can’t be done.
Daly was quoted last year making it clear teams couldn’t park a player on vegas, because vegas is exempt. I get that there’s differences here, but the optics of it would probably have the nhl in a fit. Especially if it’s a piece that seattle would’ve taken. The nhl essentially got paid 500m to set seattle up for success, and they’ll want that to happen and enforce rules to ensure it.

Ahh ok, then my mistake then.

They have some interesting pieces coming and they are going to have some cap space to work with. Honestly they are 1 or 2 trades and a Free agent singing away from being pretty stable

If you trade for thomas it's to fill the 3c spot if chytil and strome are gone with a new top center walking into that top 6. Projecting chytil as your 2c and a multi year underachieving Thomas backing him up is not the recipe to see this team "take the next steps."

It’s not overpayment.

Despite his mediocre season, Thomas is still just 21 and has produced at a 40 point pace. I’m a huge fan of Robertson but this is exactly the type of trade Drury should be looking for.
If I'm St. Louis I wouldn't make that trade 1 for 1. Not sure how its an overpayment

Not sure what the fascination with Thomas is. Doesn’t shoot the puck. Doesn’t really have a physical game and is another bad at face-offs center. Not going to help much on special teams either. He’s coming off a 12 point season.
The fascination is that he’s a name that popped up so we gotta do 20 pages on him until the next name pops up.
