The Rangers aren't sold on him. The Rangers traded essentially two second round picks to acquire Adam Fox when they could have waited until August 2020 to sign Fox as a free agent. They have the same skillset.

o_O No they don't.

That's a pretty lazy comparison.

I thought it was when they turn 20 and are too old with their decline already starting?

Completely understand when players hold out for more $ / term but in ADA's case, if he really wanted to show the NYR that he's turned a corner with the 'maturity issues' he would sign and say "Believe in me and I'll prove it to you"

In the end he'll sign... I just think it might be a really bad idea for him to miss any part of camp. This is a young team transitioning (hopefully) to young contenders. His hold on the #1 RD spot is gone now with Trouba... he could slip a lot farther if Fox shows he's ready. Of course players don't wanna leave money on the table, but minutes and playing time shouldn't be tossed away either.

Gut feeling. Tarmo Reunanen stays in north America and gets some games this year with Rangers. I have a good feeling about this kid. Reminds me of Vantenen

ADA has played 132 NHL games in 3 seasons. He's got no leverage. He's not going to get offer sheeted by anybody. He's only hurting himself at this point by not signing the QO. He should sign, put his nose to the grindstone, and cash in next summer.

I have no agenda and nothing against the guy but he hasn't done enough, consistently enough, at an NHL to hold out or play games with his contract - especially given the Rangers cap situation. They aren't in a position to offer him term at an elevated cap hit. That's for next year.

Pretty much my thoughts as well

I’m all for players getting paid but it’s not possible right now.

If he really wants to play hard ball, if I’m Gorton, I tell his agent “that’s fine, we’ll give Fox his minutes and sign a veteran minimum D”

Tony makes the team better but now is not the time to hold out

It is only a problem if that trade is happening in NHL 20. Waddell will not trade Namestnikov for Faulk. While, I am not the biggest fan of Faulk he is still certainly worth much more than Namestnikov.

Additionally, for what Faulk would actually cost I'd absolutely rather take the risk with ADA than bring on Faulk. I have a feeling his skating is going to fall of a cliff in a year or two.
I don’t think trade would work in NHL20.

Whatever, it's a business and the players want to get paid. We can blame ADA for "holding out" but I really hope the Rangers aren't playing games over something as small as a 250K difference. I can't imagine the numbers are that far off. It's a rebuild, and he is one of the golden pieces on defense, stop playing games and get him signed for training camp. Let's see what we got with him over the next 2 seasons.

Does Henriksson get signed and play in Hartford if he continues his good Traverse City Tournament?
I would let him continue to develop in Sweden. I see how Nils is developing and it looks to be helping his development

i think he'll go back to sweden, that would be a no brainer if he was a lock to play in the SHL like lundkvist. but frolunda is stacked and he has to fight lucas raymond for a call up. AHL vs J20 is a completely different conversation

Question to anyone/everyone, could the Rangers conceivably look for a different situation for him they find preferable? Canadian Juniors? KHL? A trade to another SEL team? It would seem as though the Pack will be very full already and he’s so young I’d hate to force him into the AHL already.

canadian juniors would be pointless. there is zero advantage to that over playing J20 and potential some games in the SHL...IMO the only options are Hartford or Frolunda and its probably 99% frolunda
