Based off of what? Considering that Sather was part of the group that convinced Dolan that rebuilding was necessary?
That’s cus he only listens to sather. I don’t watch basketball but from what little I‘be heard over the years, dolan has ruined the knicks. I’m going to be skeptical until I see proof otherwise.

Blues should blow it up or at least shuffle the deck. And I would be all over ROR

Think they will have to reshuffle. There are a number of players there that would add that bit of grit and sandpaper the team needs to add.

Starting with RoR.

There is just a strange vibe about that team right now. Yes they were pretty banged up in the playoffs but all year they seemed just off. Losing Pietrangelo didn’t help. Binnington was so up and down.

But yes I would love to take ROR out of STL. Sundqvist is another I like. Thomas if he could stay healthy. Even Clifford.

For the 2nd rounder and the prospect. Cap space shouldn't be a problem for them for a long time. Maybe its a 1st rounder.

i Just don’t think that I’d a tradeable contract

Marleau got a 1st for 1 year left at 6 million

FLA GM was old and needed to go

Same in the Nashville area.

Same in western NY. A friend of mine sold her house for 40k above asking, and that's apparently a common thing there this year (which is saying something when 40k would be about 1/3 of what the asking price even was). I'm in a bit of a spot right now. I have a condo in Rochester, and I rented it out rather than sell it when I moved to Arkansas for my current job (hoping that I could find my way back to Rochester in a year or two). The job I'd been hoping to snag to get back didn't end up materializing. I still don't see Arkansas as a long term home. I could easily sell my condo and put a huge dent in my student loans, but the way the numbers are going, I don't know that I'd be able to get back into a house at these prices/rates. I kind of want to hold on to the condo so that I have cost-controlled housing in a place I want to be.

ROR could be a good fit, depending on the cost. You thinking in addition to Zib or in place of Zib? I think the first thing we need to do is figure out whether we are keeping Zib, Strome, or neither. We won't have the money to keep both, and depending on their asks, we may not have the money for one of them + an external addition.

Are we talking about swapping out Strome for ROR? I know he's very good but he's turning 31 next season and has just 2 seasons left on his contract.

I wouldn't say he'd be a long term solution

ROR would be 32 when the deal is up. I wouldn't assume he'd be 2 years and out. I also don't think the Rangers necessarily need to nail down a long term 2C right now either. The right long term solution might not be available yet.

I have it as in addition to Zib and moving on from Strome. Strome has served his purpose, but he is more of the same that this team has too much of, too much finesse, not enough grit north-south play with defensive ability. Certainly not enough faceoff ability. We need stability down the middle ROR can offer that behind Zib.

And then I would look to add Coleman and Goodrow as free agents. Bonino too.

What I'm saying is he wouldn't be a 1C solution. Also when his contract is up do you want to commit major money potentially for his age 33 season forward?

As a 2C instead of Strome I'd be for it, ofcourse depending on the cost.

You said swap out Strome for ROR, so I assumed 2C. Not sure about as 1C either. 2C it's a no brainer to me if ROR was available.

If they got ROR and he performed well, I'd have no problem on a 2-3 year extension taking him through 34-35.

Simplicity and the right balance of improvement and patience:

Kakko for Larkin straight up. Painful to lose, but you have to give to get. Our team is better immediately, and more balanced.
Strome out for futures or a similar contract vet LD
Hire some toughness on the 4th line.
Extend Buch in particular. Love the one you're with.
Hold Georgie for now
Let the team develop, bolder moves next off-season (or even midseason) with more info available.

Laf - Zib - Buch
Panarin - Larkin - Kravtsov
Kreider - Chytil - Gauthier
Hired gun - Barron - Hired gun

Top 4 D as-is
vet LD addition / existing RD prospect

Progress. Positioned to make the playoffs, and compete for real the season after.

Gaborik was in the middle of a poor season as well.

Dubi then went on to have like 5 straight seasons of very respectable production while being a 2 way force. His arrival in CBJ was arguably the turning point where they went from a laughingstock to one of the hardest teams to play against, too bad it only culminated with one playoff series win before it came undone a few months later.

Pretty much the opposite of sell high.

Semi-Realistic Wishlist, in order:

1) Rod Brind'Amour
2) Joel Quenneville
3) Gerard Gallant
4) Mike Sullivan
5) Paul Maurice

So essentially, Gallant and....Gallant
Initial thought on Maurice was “no way”! But he might actually be ok for us. Issue with him is that he’s not a finisher either.
