Sign the QO and show up to Camp, or sit out and hope they're better at Poker than Gorts.

Feelin' good on a Wednesday
This, like most of the business related discussions here, is all about the process.

Of course ADA and Lemieux can hold out into the season (or even go to Europe) but I don't see what they would get from doing so. We don't have a lot of cap and them not being in camp would really hurt them physically and would tarnish a bit of their images.

I'm sure their agents are telling them not to worry, that they'll end up with X but they have to hold out now so that next year they'll get Y. The question is how long, but I seriously doubt either one misses any camp.

I'm probably in the minority but it is going to be rough seeing one of my favorite Rangers in the last 10 years play for the Islanders. Couldn't he just have signed somewhere on the west coast?!?!

I never got attached to Brass like some other guys here.

Henrik.. Zucc.. Voros.. Sure, but not Brassard.

USAT: Are both players looking for something beyond the one-year, qualifying offers?

JG: I never like to get into my discussions with the agents and the players. I like to keep that as private as possible, and that’s what I’ll continue to do. But listen, they’re both good players. They’re valuable to the organization and what we’re doing. We like them both a lot, on and off the ice. We’re trying to get them signed and get them in the best deals for the Rangers right now, and for the future. We’ll figure that out as soon as possible.

USAT: But you’re saying you do not think another move — trade or otherwise — is necessary to create more wiggle room?

JG: No, not right now. Not in order to sign them. I think we can sign them right now and feel comfortable with how it fits going forward.

One year. $874,125.

I liked Brassard, but not quite to extent some others did.

I think the Rangers did a hell of a job in getting him close to the level he was capable of, and then flipping him.

Brassard was essentially the text book example you (reasonably) hope for when it comes to asset management.

So he's going to a low scoring team in nyi to be 3rd C? Replacing filppula? I read from pit fans that he wasn't a good fit at 3rd center.

Brassard is an interesting case.

Part of me feels like he got very old, very quickly.

The other part of me feels like he was a guy who was tailor-made for the role and situation he found himself in with the Rangers, which happened to coincide with his peak performing years.

He's been around forever, but this is a guy who still only 31 years old. In my mind that almost feels surprising.

I guess. Keeping Brendan Lemieux is not exactly a Defcon-1 priority to me.
I like Brassard a lot and wish we could have brought him for depth purposes.

But he is by no means and not even close to being a priority over Lemieux. We need Lemmy’s style of play badly to make the team more diverse in its play. Plus he still has potential to grow.

I think this was a terrible move by Brassard. Take away the Islanders title from that team and you just look at those bottom lines and think who the hell are you playing with to fix your offensive numbers for a new contract next season? Brutalz

Rangers should have been in on that for that price.
Why? He can’t slot into the one position we have open. He’s not outscoring/performing Strome or Names at this point. Signing Brass great for 2012-2016 Rangers. Not for 2019 onwards Rangers.
