hey remember when I was ridiculed for saying kreider can and should play RW…….I hate you people lol

Yup. People complain that the Rangers don't give enough time to our young players and site Hughes as an example of how to do it. If they actually watched a single second of him play from the moment he stepped on the ice he was fast, dynamic and hungry. He got more time cause he was too good not to give it to him.
Hughes was ass his first season. He was always going to be good but this is revisionist history

100%, even some of the biggest Devils homers were calling him a bust his first 2 seasons . And he didn’t show much elite skill at all as a rookie, he looked lost.

They still let him do his thing until he figured it out.

Reminds me of Allen and Darnold .

And Laf is Zach Wilson

To be fair if the rangers had let laf do what Hughes was doing he’d already be a 50 or 60 point player. But we have never given him the rope the devils gave Hughes.

Nah the skill, speed, swagger etc was always there, he was just getting manhandled. He still looked way better than Kakko. Pretty sure his analytics were great too meanwhile Kakko's were the worst in the league

I’m fine with this. Florida has struggled and Halak has played well as of late. Have to keep Shesty rested and not burn him out for the playoffs.
Interesting. Moving a young guy they can’t afford to re-sign for some more established players/short-term boost would be on-brand. But I also don’t think Kravtsov will cost all that much to bring back next year. But I see your point too. Something like that could happen.

f***ing get Boudreau already
Isn’t he pretty much an extreme version of GG?

I think you replied to the wrong person. :sarcasm:

Oh sorry. Was referring to the point about possibly treating Kravtsov for a rental. Not anything I’d support but could see the Rangers doing something like that if they’re not planning on him for next year.

No, he actually knows how to coach beyond "Line 2 is on, put line 3 on"

Hughes was like a -30 and was hanging half the game. He was also getting on average over 2 minutes a night on the PP
+/- is a 5v5 stat and Kakko had the exact same +/- as him lol. They were both a -26
And if you want to use the excuse of him getting more PP mins, well he was on a worse team, which should negatively affect his +/- too compared to Kakkos. Kakko also started his career on the first line and on PP1 lol, he played himself off of it

Who comes out for Hunt? Brodzinski just sent down with Gauthier ready to go. Blais already outside looking in. I'd rather keep Leschyshyn.

Agreed and Hunt is not that good. One has little potential and will be 24 with under 2 NHL seasons. I rather keep the kid. Better skater too

Exactly. He only needed to get stronger. And he knew that. He dedicated himself to strength conditioning and now is bordering on superstar status.
But even when he was getting thrown all over the ice 2 seasons ago, you could see the skill right out of the box.

It's crazy really. These two, today, as we speak, aren't even remotely on the same hockey planet.

Giant steps vs baby steps.

It's not crazy. It's entirely predictable and was predicted by many. The NYR management insisted they were the smartest guys in the room and it turns out they are not. Far, far, far from it.

Yup. He's Gallant but more emotionally labile. I felt bad for the guy in Vancouver though. Never thought I'd say that after his time with the Caps.

I’m expecting nibbles around the edges at this deadline rather than a big swing. @RangerBoy btought up Dadonov. I’m on that wagon for now. Go get him and a 4th line forward who plays a physical game. Motte or Ritchie.

I am really curious if Drury and his team really are pursuing Stanley. That would be a move not just for this season but beyond. Big guys take longer to develop and his size would be a welcome addition to the d-corps moving forward. Even if it’s just a 6D. Size and reach matter come playoff time.

None of what I just discussed should necessitate even a 2nd rounder being moved.
You guys remember that Dadonov and Panarin are old used to be very good linemates from their days with SKASt.P?

Dadonov is a type of get thst should cost a 3rd or less. Kravtsov had reported 2nd round pick offered for to Drury when he ran away to Russia last season and Drury wanted more otherwise he’d be gone. Kravtsov’s been back and more or less regular. Should be at least a 2nd now. So using him for rental Dadonov would be an overpayment IMO unless we get something else back or otherwise expand the trade.
