Is it possible that the vets are struggling at ES because their options for linemates are bottom-six journeymen or kids who can’t finish. The Rangers do not have a complete first or second line.
Yet the only lines that have shown any consistency at ES over an extended period of time involve the kids? I don’t recall any combination of Zib, Trocheck and Panarin ever working.

Players are paid premium values to make others better. For nearly $12mm, who exactly has Panarin made better except Strome, playing a style of hockey that proved useless in the POs? How about Zib? Although more slack for him, as he’s not sheltered w/ 70%+ OZ starts like Panarin.

It might not even be the players fault, as we have a team full of playmaking Ws that lack speed. The irony is, it’s the vets contracts who are making this difficult to rectify.

Our top-6 centers have 11 goals EV goals combined. To me, Zibanejad sitting at 6 goals is just absurd. He is trending to match the amount of EV goals he had last season: 13. Right now he is tied with Vesey and Gauthier.

Schenn would be fine depending on cost. Dont think they'd want Jones. Robertson feels like too much to give up by himself.

Maybe a Robertson + 2nd for Schenn and Hoglander/podkolzin? @bobbop

He’s definitely not as elite as some say.

Also our org sucks at offense, so it’s not all him.

I'll talk to you bobbop. Schenn might be a good depth add and he shouldn't cost a whole lot. I think he'd be another piece, however, as opposed to being THE piece on D.
Probably agree. I’m not sure if the perfect sixth is out there at a reasonable price.

If I were Drury, I'd aggressively be trying to sign Laffy right now.

2-3 years $2ishM
Kakko contract

Lafreniere is getting chances. He showing some signs of life. He needs to pot a goal or two get going. It looks like a confidence issue more than anything. His confidence isn’t there and thus he is thinking too much, slowing him down in every facet of the game. He doesn’t get his legs moving quick enough, slow to react. Slow handling the puck. Fumbles pucks. Makes poor decisions with the puck. It looks like a lot of second guessing.

Some of you amaze me. You preach rebuild, rebuild, rebuild, but when adversity hits it becomes a blame game with the Rangers organization and wanting to trade kids. Patience is paying dividends with Chytil and Kakko. Patience is needed with Lafreniere. If you believe in Lafreniere (and most still should) then if anything this is keeping his cap hit down for the next couple years on the bridge deal.

I still believe in Laf long term but his shortcomings are hurting our chances this year. Clear he didn’t take the off-season training seriously like Chytil & Kakko did imo.

On another note, Gavrikov will be highly sought after for good reason. Big and can defend. Not a bad skater or passer either. He’d look great next to Schneider

Are they really hurting our chances this year? We’re squarely in playoff position. This is the exact time to do some short term experimentation in hopes of long term success.

The Rangers are trying to win a Cup. Laf not being trustworthy as a top 6 forward in case of injury definitely hurts their chances. It’s also probably going to cause them to trade for a forward at the deadline

I dont think he's untrustworthy as a top 6 forward. I think blais being the player he is, is going to make them trade for a forward. I think they're going to want a bottom 6 forward not a top 6.
