Kane is f***ing ass this year, I have no idea why anyone wants him

Dude is gonna be like the Eric Staal trade 2.0

Not only that, but he's the last thing this team needs.

Where the F do you put Kane on our PP, which is his main contribution. Another perimeter skill playmaking winger? NYR would be nuts to go after him.

If you're going for a forward, get me Trevor Moore. He'd be expensive but a godsend for our third line. Kulikov out of Chicago to bolster the D corps.

Moore would be outstanding but I don’t think LA is selling necessarily

In the same vein I’m still eyeing that Sundqvist/Maatta package if Detroit goes away

There's a chance we would be able to keep him? Get rid of Lindgren and Laf?

He'd be a rental. His qualifying offer is 10M for next season. He's not a 10M cap hit player. You have two 1st rounders and a good prospect group, one which Mike Grier is familiar with. 50% retained and you can STILL add to the roster with another move.

If you add him with Trocheck and Panarin, that line will take off. He's a possession monster a team that isn't great and is cap strapped that is attempting to re-tool the team. Perfect player for the team to get.

We aren't playing like a team that should be dealing firsts for a chance at the Cup.

Obviously the results are not there, but the team is playing better than at just about any point last season. 60 games left to continue development of the young guys.

But the reality is that Zib, Kreider, Panarin, and Trocheck are at the end of their prime years. Shesterkin has 3 years left on his deal and will command much much more at this rate. The time to strike is now. Tampa is not what they were. Pitt and Washington are in decline. Toronto and Florida aren't beacons of postseason success. The Devils are young and may not know better, but don't have the playoff pedigree. Boston and Carolina are the teams that have that and are performing. The rest are middling teams or are bad.

This team has a three year window to win a cup as constructed. They have the experience of last season. They have high end players that have a history of producing. They have improvement from young players. The system isn't flush, but it is good. When is the time to go for it? We're not advocating moving the young parts on the team. Nobody is talking about moving out an Othmann, who is a big part of what the team will need the next two seasons.

If Timo Meier costs you a 1st + a non-Othmann prospect and someone like a Kravtsov, you don't do it? I'm not in on Kane. That would be a bad move. You can move out non-roster or non-impact pieces right now for a 35 goal scorer that is physical and can skate? Sign me up.

Let’s not mortgage the future for someone who will only be here for one postseason of our window.

Stick with the kids on hand and add more next year . We are on pace for 6 points every 5 games which the experts claim gets you in the playoffs . They say 100 +pts not needed this season with more parity in the Eastern Conference and less poor clubs to feast on and that 96-98 is lots to nab a spot .....maybe even a top 3 spot in division if we can stay ahead of Fishsticks . They were chatting about it on the Sen/Jersey game on Saturday .

I don't think we'll be getting Meier at the deadline, a definitely not extending him; but he's not going to have a 10m cap hit moving forward despite his qualifying #. Someone-one will offer 7 years in the $7-8m range

So a 1st and Kravtsov is my offer for Kane but I’m sure another piece would have to go

Giroux deal does make sense as a comparison
He had a no trade too

I was literally saying this is the offer I’d go with today at work

I really wouldn’t consider anything more

I agree with all this. Worried about "perception" if they stand pat, or having to "sell" a null deadline to Dolan and the smooth brained fans.
