Rempe is being groomed for this role in HFD. And the most encouraging thing is that he knows and embraces it
I would try to include that Boko Imama fella Arizona has stashed in the minors in Any deadline deal We make withe the Desert Dogs. Or just a separate minor league deal. Seems like a Beast at 26. I gather he is injured tho

Carolina probably has to put Raanta on the block soon. not sure that’s doable but just saying
Ok, why? Halak has been good enough. Most of the games we have lost with him, have had nothing to do with goaltending. Halak is available (important part here, because Raanta is always hurt), and he accepts his role as a backup (unlike Georgiev). We have no reason to upgrade from Halak. The fact that a thread exists on that subject is absurd. He has been plenty good enough.

Spend the cap and assets on a forward.

Halak is 60th in the league in save % and has 1 win in 8 starts. Saying he's been "good enough" is quite the stretch. If Igor gets hurt (and that's been a thing) are the Rangers going to elevate enough to prop up their 37 year old back up? That's a big ask.

Coulda shoulda woulda but over the summer I advocated for Lindgren for a bunch of reasons - he's cheaper, he's younger, he's better, and his brother is on the team.

Shesterkin has played the most minutes of any goalkeeper in the NHL. Halak needs to start playing more than one game every 3-4 weeks. Halak wasn’t good in Vancouver last season. Drury gave Halak a no movement clause. The Rangers are stuck with him. This is a problem.

Given the drop in play when Ryan Lindgren is out of the lineup, but also the salary cap, do you see the Rangers signing him to a long-term contract this summer? What do you think the term and salary have to be for him to stay? If you were a betting man, do you think he will be on the Rangers next year? — MKH

I don’t see how, honestly. And the Board of Governors news this week that the cap is likely only going up $1 million next season makes it next to impossible to keep Lindgren while also signing Miller to any sort of mid- to long-term deal.

My best guess right now is that Miller slides in to be Fox’s partner, Matthew Robertson gets tentatively penciled in as Lindgren’s roster replacement and Drury tries his hardest to find a Mark Giordano-type on the cheap to either play with Fox or Braden Schneider.

It could be a real drop-off. Lindgren has a ton of respect in the Rangers’ room for how he plays and it is hard to duplicate.
Talked to three pro scouts who have seen Hartford anywhere from 3-5 times this season. The consensus choices were Matthew Robertson, who has 1-4-5 in 20 games this season and turned 21 in September, and Will Cuylle, who leads the Wolf Pack with seven goals and doesn’t turn 21 until February.

On Robertson: “I’m surprised he isn’t up yet,” said one scout. “He’s better than what they have here with (Libor) Hajek.”

On Cuylle: “He’s come on a bit lately,” one of the other scouts said. “He’s got the tools to be an NHLer.”

These may be familiar names to Rangers fans given both are second-round picks. One player who all three scouts like that’s maybe more off the radar: 28-year-old center Gustav Rydahl, who had a strong Rangers camp and has 2-3-5 in 17 AHL games.

“He’s an NHL center,” one of the scouts said. “Good skating, strong on the puck, smart. He could be a fourth-liner right now for a lot of teams.”

Are the Rangers giving Lindgren a contract extension? No. Moving Lindgren in the summer would be a prudent move. Montreal got the 13th pick overall for Romanov. Lindgren is signed for one more season after this season. He will be a group II in 2024. The acquiring team could sign Lindgren to a contract extension.

Even if the NHL makes a deal to raise the cap, the $3M increase will still be a tight cap for the Rangers. Are the Rangers extending Lindgren in 2024? No. Why wait to trade him? Every team is looking for a defenseman. $3M cap hit is a very good deal. 1st round pick in 2023 or 2024 or a top prospect.

Lindgren won’t cost more than 4.5-5 on a 4-5 year deal. There’s no rush to sign him next season as he’s locked in. I’ve ran capfriendly enough times to know he’s a trade candidate, but I would move Goodrow’s contract before Lindgren. He’s very important to this team in a lot of ways. Goodrow is too, but the cap is the cap.

For example, and this is with 0 trades etc. it largely depends on Miller and Laf taking affordable bridge deals

KAM has arbitration rights. He's not going to cost 3M - if it carries any term, it'll be 4.5+

More garbage about not re-signing Lindgren? He's going to be re-signed. Cap will be up in 2 years. Staple is a moron. You don't lose a player like Lindgren who will be very reasonable priced for what he brings. And he wants Robertson to replace him? We don't even know if Robertson will be an NHL player because they won't call him up. Staple should just focus on the Isles.

I would like to see Robertson in action at the NHL level before I traded away Lindgren . I would assume we will be subject to that preview well before he is dealt ......they certainly have to be entertaining those thoughts ?

Im shocked at this post.
You are one of the posters i respect the most here
Who is replacing Lindgren?
He is our 2nd or 3rd best dman
Jones stuggled while here
Robertson has been disappointing in the AHL
Hajek is awful
Lindy was also one of the few that played better in the POs
I absolutely expect him to sign here for 4-5 more years
Maybe he's not a true first pair D but he's still a very good dman with heart and guts that this team lacks
He should be here til he turns 30
Meanwhile we need to get some LD and RD back in our prospect pool

RB has be VERY pro trade Lindgren for as long as I can remember.

The D could start playing more too. That would help everything.

Aren't we also one of the league leaders in OT games?

If I’m looking for cap relief this offseason, I’m looking at Goodrow first. Lindgren is much more important to the team and is actually a bargain at $3m for a top 4 defenseman. Goodrow is a versatile forward, but when this team is at its best, he’s on the 4th line.

See if anyone wants Goodrow for a pick with no retention in the offseason. If there are no takers, buy him out. His buyout penalty is not bad and gives us a small cap credit for two years.

Lol. Have we forgotten when he showed up to camp overweight, got demoted and took himself out of action by breaking his hand on Vinny Lettieri?
We also remember when he was asked to play forward, basically stayed through the entire rebuild part, and never asked out. His play was poor, but he helped kakko get settled in the US, and wanted to re-sign with us after his 4 year deal was over.
Additionally yeah he had one bad camp, but after that he was fine, but was asked to play over his head far too much.
