He has a huge lack of skill when it comes to shooting the puck....not a little issue, no...its a major thing. If his role is to just pass the puck around on the PP and maker pretty stretch passes....and it makes us better, then sure, he is a Norris candidate. But if the ability to shoot the puck means anything for a defenseman......

This couldn't be less true. Yes, he doesn't wind up and take a huge slap slot but he consistently looks to shoot for teammates sticks and to get the puck through. A well placed snap/wrist shot from the point can oftentimes be more dangerous

Nice. Talk about a make or break year for a young player. He'll get regular run this season, but the acquisitions of Trouba and Fox make his long-term future with the Rangers a little cloudier. Cleaning up his attitude issues seems like a good place to start.
(Just in case people didn't know I was kidding, I was. Just to be clear!)

But you must understand what I mean? Sometimes you are impressed by someone, sometimes you aren’t. Could of course be a boat load I am missing, but you get what I mean.

And I wasn’t comparing him to anything in the organization, but like there are many guys out there that can be interviewed for 5 full minutes and add something meaningful, nuance something, whatever, besides the total cliches.
What you’re seeing could be from his years of practice of doing player interviews. The younger guys are kind of changing everything and being more expressive, but Drury’s whole playing career was during the era of players giving cliché interview answers and generally just trying to get through them to avoid any spotlight on themselves

ADA is a head ache on these boards. I can only imagine for NYR management.

Do we really need this on our team? in our org?

Erik Karlsson used to be a big headache on HFOTT, they probably would've been better off just trading him right then and there. Look at them now.

Dude, are your really comparing karlsson to ADA? The first time i saw karllson play i knew he would be a star. I didnt have the same feeling about ADA.

What makes you think he's a headache to the team or organization? Because he's a contentious subject of discussion on HF?

No. he has a track record. with other org's other than ours. too much talk about his negatives other than his positives. only positives talked about is what he can become rather than what he is.

Yeah, it’s pretty funny because as die hard fans like we all are, we think we learn who these guys are. And it’s probably only human nature, you take what you have and fill in the blanks.

And to some extent you do and — of course — to some extent you are totally lost.

Just chalk me up for someone who isn’t the biggest fan of Drury. I like Gorton. I like many others. I was a big fan of Yzerman when he was the AGM for Detroit before he went to Tampa. Our history has for some reason been deleted but I started a thread about how Slats should step aside and hire Yzerman as a GM before he went to Tampa. He was really polite and made interviews with Swedish TV when he was in Europe watching the EHT etc for DRW, and you could tell that he had a great hockey mind but also a very clear picture on how to build a team, and so forth. The importance of players beyond the attributes that jump on you. I liked Maloney to a certain extent and thought Renney did a splendid job for us — before — he became a coach (at least besides scouting). He had just revamped the Canadian hockey program and had extensive knowledge of the non-redline offside game, and probably understood what would happen with the NHL game before anyone else did. Go back and read what some coaches said when there was talk about removing the red line offside rule in 04’. Many claimed that the game would become more defensive and some said that they would leave a D in their own zone all the time and so forth. Renney was all about puck possession and speed and skill. The players he helped bringing in; Straka, Nylander, Rucinsky and so forth.

I have nothing against Drury, but he just seem as a do’er without much of an analytic mind — to me, and I am aware that could be totally wrong. ;)

People mature. Nothing negative has come out since he's been a Ranger with regard to him as a teammate or to his relationship with with the organization. His development was arguably the biggest positive that came out of last season on the NHL level, in my opinion. Quinn was leaning on him for big minutes as the season progressed, particularly considering he got no PK time.

Absolutely, aside from some questions about his coachability early in the season.

Rookie years are mostly meant to be forgotten anyway.

he became really good last season.

last season he was a metrics freak.

look at his zone entry numbers and possession numbers. they were outworldly.

look at his production and games played.

30 points 60 games. project that out thats .5 ppg. thats 40 points

this year hell be 50 points easy.

hes 23. he needs to mature. as a dman, his offensive skills are perhaps the best on the team. he oozes offense from the back.

Look at him in Q's dog house. That's my point. I really don't care how good he is or may become. If i'm spending this much time talking about s players character, i simply don't want him on my team.

Too much conversation about his character on and off the ice for it not to be. I dont like these type of players.

This player is soft
That player takes too many penalties
This player has no character
That player is a head case
This player is inconsistent
That player is too old

It doesn't matter. People will always find something to bitch and moan about
