I think most agree here. The question is, what is a pile of assets. I am probably more okay than others moving a guy like Chytil + secondary assets (read not Lundqvist, Kravtsov, Schneider). Georgiev, Howden, Gauthier, Jones, Reunanen, Barron. Those guys are on the table.

Agreed, if the price is Chytil and the non A-list prospects, and a first, yeah, sign me up.

Guess I'm just freaking out over people saying Dolan is going to f*** things up. Laf, Kakko, Fox, Shesty should all be untouchables.

Even if Dolan does try to strong arm things, we're looking at Kakko, not Lafreniere.

The Dolan talk is just Sabres fans trying to convince themselves that their unrealistic expectations are possible.

combined with the last Vogl tweet above, it sounds like management knows the time to trade Eichel is now, long before his NMC kicks in, during the off season when they can move a $10M contract so they are refusing him the option for surgery if the recovery time is as severe as you mentioned.

Joke is on the Sabres, because now all teams know that they are buying damaged goods.

All this talk about Eichel is very much a non-issue at the moment. If he has a bad neck, they aren't trading for him. They would have to get permission to have him see their doctors to get an evaluation before they agreed to a deal. If surgery and a long recovery are on the table, they are not dropping high-end assets. I would get the talk if Eichel had just played a full season without a neck injury. However desperate you think Dolan is making Drury, if that is even the case, he isn't desperate enough to trade away healthy talent for a player that may not even play until half way into the following season.

True. I would still hope the deal would be around Kravtsov/Chytil/Lundqvist though and not Kakko.

There is no shot an Eichel trade involves Kakko or Laf. Especially considering he just all but said he wants out, and revealed his extensive list of injuries. A roster player like buch or Strome, the first round pick, a prospect like jones or maybeeee VK + spare parts is more than enough to get it done IMO

Can we stop even mentioning trading Kakko before it’s willed into existence?

Ryan Strome end of season exit presser.

I would believe that there would be a team or teams out there who would like to bring Zibanejad in and offer him a contract almost immediately. They would be teams looking to win in the next 3-4 years, say Colorado or Vegas as examples. There may be others. I would ask the player where he would like to play after determining what teams would be interested and work out a sign and trade with one of those teams.

The Rangers will know what his contract requests are. They can share that with the team(s) that are interested and if the new team(s) and Zibanejad are close they may pull the trigger.

That way the player has financial security going in to next season when he could get hurt and lose market value. There is risk in Zibanejad going in to next season without an extension as well.

We've mentioned Vegas multiple times but a team like Colorado would be a home run for a player like Zibanejad too.
Vegas would kill for Mika. Their center depth stinks or is unproven, and everywhere else they are a solid contender for the cup. I’m telling you right now the best we can hope for from him is 6x10. That’s a pretty large investment that takes him to 35. Id explore every other option I can before committing to that. And I’m a big fan of mika

Seth Jones said Monday, “I really have to take a step back and think about what I want.”

Is Jones also on the way to leave CBJ?

This is what I am talking about with accountability with someone like Tortorella. What does it take to do a good job in the eyes of some? Many think Torts is great. He says the right things. How is his track record? He had a team that has been rebuilding since it was founded, won nothing, was never any good, nobody wants to play there. Seth maybe wants out too. Can’t imagine that Laine is a super fan being a 4th lineer for Torts. Before CBJ, Torts took over a good Vancouver team, that over night became one of the worst teams in the league.

Is anyone calling out Torts for his totally horrible result?? He can sell a story. Every time CBJ got close to a PO spot Torts was brought up as coach of the year. Why? He can sell a story.

But at the end of the day, how does this help CBJ now?

I feel like we have under discussed whether BBKer's "BB" is Bruce Boudreau or Brian Boyle. The timing of Boyle's addition to Team USA ran by Drury and them having played for 2 years together, and being a center great on face offs, I think that's probably more likely?

Brian Boyle was added to USA for the World Championship tourney?

If Eichel was healthy, Kakko would be a fair ask. Whether we like it or not (I don't). Hopefully Drury doesn't bite, but it all depends on how bad he want's him and what other teams bid's are. Him wanting out doesn't necessarily mean he'll be cheaper.

That said, for the right package I could totally see Kakko getting moved. Would have to be a damn good package, but my point is that he isn't quite untouchable anymore.
