At any point before or during last season, was Ottawa better than Pittsburgh? Hell no. Yet, they were 1 goal away in 2OT from beating them to get to the Cup Final.

No need to quit on a season when anything can happen throughout the year.

Yankees were the "championship or bust" team more so than ANYONE in ANY of the big sports and they saw what needed to be done.. If they can do it, anyone can.

We all want the same thing man, I just think my frustration is based on watching this franchise for 30+ years. I don't agree with the half in and half out philosophy.

Yeah but the Yankees never had a losing season. They stayed decent and watchable.

Going scorched Earth is usually a terrible idea.

They got Judge 21st overall and got Torres and Frazier in trades. It's not like they were getting lottery picks.

Who says they would tank tho? couldn't Mcdonagh, Zucc etc get young impact NHL players potentially?... kinda like Zib for Brassard, that was a rebuild move, but they pretty much got a guy who can put up the same production.

That is the third time in 2 weeks I have seen posters say look at the Knicks. Most people rather not look at the Knicks but if forced to look at the Knicks they should see many things we should avoid at all costs!

I mean this thread is literally unbearable with the same handful of people reiterating their views on how we're doing everything wrong over and over and over again. I desperately want to ignore it but it's the only thread for news and rumors.

The Yankee rebuild is really overrated. Did they ever give up in the offseason and intentionally try and rebuild? Never happened. Here are there relevant trades since 2013:

2013 calendar year - nothing
2014 calendar year - traded a utility guy in eduardo nunez at the beginning of the year and a run of the mill catcher in cervelli in the offseason. they also traded for Didi.
2015 calendar year - not one trade of note
2016 calendar year - traded chapman/miller/beltran/nova before the deadline when the team was in a borederline spot as everyone should do with upcoming UFA's.

The comparison would be if the Rangers try to sell guys off at the deadline if they get off to a bad start. Not if they try to be bad at the start of the year.

I think Devils get him. They got very little from their defense overall last year though Moore somehow scored 12 goals. They bought out Cammalleri and Smith-Pelley to make more space too. Unless he's changed his mind about going to Tampa.

Anything is possible but people on this board often feel the only way to rebuild is to tear everything down and completely start over ignoring the fact that most our team especially the forwards are completely different than 5 years ago. We have been rebuilding all along.

Aaron HIcks, Didi Gregorious and others were part of the get younger/ rebuild mantra, Cashman has been wanting to rebuild for the past 3 years, it took last season for Hal to sign off on it tho.

To get a Torres, Frazier, Sheffield, we would need to trade McDonagh, Zucc. I don't see that happening anytime soon. Going half-ass doesn't make sense.
