Holden should be able to be traded . In this cap world he's making peanuts . And he could play bottom pairing on many teams. Staal on other hand is untradeable because of cap reasons and arguably is worse than holden. At least Holden can skate

Of the guys I would offer-sheet, I think you do it for Kuznetsov before Draisaitl

And this is coming from someone that loves Draisaitl

Yeah but you're risking that contract and those picks on a guy to be the #1C, and he has yet to be a #1C.

Right, which is why I said if he's that good. I'm not advocating for it, I'm not convinced at all he is that good.

Draisaitl is very good but before we put him on that elite /can carry the team on his back status let's see him do it without mcdavid. Like Malkin can do it without Crosby .

Staal is untradeable because he won't accept a trade, we need to come to the realization that he will be on a pairing this year. The hope that it's the third line and 10 minutes TOI max

Trade next to nothing for Fayne plus a 1st now

Sell Nash, Grabner, Holden, maybe Klein at deadline,

End up with two 1sts (maybe three), and a couple other 3rds/4th too.

Five 1st rounders in two drafts plus whatever else, that is a restocking of the prospect pool.

Yes I should have mentioned that as well. No doubt he won't accept a trade on top of the fact you would have to retain big money on his contract

There is no way we are getting a first to take on Fayne's contract. He has one year left at 3.625 AAV. It's not like he has a Staal-like contract with term. They can buy him out or just bury him for the year.

We can only hope, but the danger with him on the roster is AV will revert to trusting his guys no matter how good anyone else is playing.

It happened with Girardi last year, he started the season getting less minutes than in the past, but by the playoffs he was 1st pair.

Same story with Glass.

AV will always fall back to his guys.

I honestly would not be shocked to see Staal healthy scratched for a stretch this year

If these younger defensemen push their way into the lineup, I don't think it is insane.

Also think there is more heat on AV this year. Assuming Ruff is actually joining the staff, I would think he is much more likely to not fall into his old habits (or at least that's what I hope for)

gotta tell ya..that blonde girl is a little annoying...i get it..shes pretty..and im sure she knows a ton about hockey..wouldnt be surprised if she knew more than I do...with that said...theres just something about her personality that bugs me a bit.

Cerny, for all his boundless optimism...didnt annoy me as much..you knew he was a mouthpiece...thats his job...but he wasnt annoying...she just....bugs me.

Cerny came off as a fan who couldnt believe he had the job he did.

you should listen to some of his podcasts where hes got the shackles off...hes got some real astute observations and insights.

i just dont like something about her...not sure if its her expressions on her face..the way she makes single word sentences and then makes the other person elaborate on it...its all...blah...

..."Goalies"....analyze them....go.

i mean thats basically what she said.

its fine..i dont dislike her...its not like i hate her guts or something...theres just something about her that annoys me. like Maloney...love the guy..but man he annoys the ever loving crap outta me..with him i can point to what it is though..i HATE the way he speaks...he uses transitions between every sentence and its ridiculous.."and in the mean time"..."and on the other hand"....etc.

The guys one of the best rangers announcers on the planet because hes legit telling it like it is...but man oh man does he bug me. With amanda its a lot harder for me to tell you what annoys me...i just know something about her annoys me.

Eh, I really didn't have much of an issue with the Gordie interview. She really just let him talk. On the other hand, her player interviews are pretty brutal, especially the prospect ones. Asking them the same questions over and over in slightly different ways about how they feel about being drafted, coming to NY, the emotion of it all. To me, it's just laziness on the part of that whole coverage team. There's very little meat to her interviews, I feel.

She's flirting with the audience. I mean, the first time she does it, it's kinda like "woah!" but then it definitely gets annoying. You just want her to ask the questions and let Gordie answer. She's supposed to be reporting for the team, not auditioning to any casting directors who may be watching.

did you guys even watch the oilers in the playoffs? Draisaitl is legit 1st line center/player. He showed up even when McDavid didnt.

16 points in 13 games.

Who cares about shot share without McDavid on the ice? What about points/goals without McDavid?

It's a moot point even discussing Draisaitl. Anyway, I think he would be a very good player without McDavid, just not a great one. He did have 3 goals and 2 assists in one game on a separate line in the playoffs. He creates enough offense on his own. Just not as much as you would pay for.

Anyone/thing but Lias "this-generation Pavel Datsyuk" Andersson is on the table for Draisaitl.

Just over half his ice-time last season was with McDavid, and he was bad without him.

With:
59.4 GF%
53.7 CF%

Without:
44.2 GF%
47.9 CF%

That is ugly

I don't think they buy him out, they are not going to want any dead cap space when they have to re-sign McDavid and to a lesser extend Strome and Nurse.

As is they have 58M committed, and have to re-sign Draisaitl

While they may not attach a 1st, that is the type of deal I'd be inquiring about if I were the Rangers. Pouliot maybe too.

Wow. There is no way we are getting Draisaitl. That being said, he is so underrated here. Maybe a 1st line player? This guy is as legit as they come.

If Smith is indeed signing I would put Shattenkirk signing at probably 5%

They have too many defensemen. They need to play these young guys

we have alot of bodies but most are probably bottom pair or bottom 4 guys rather than top pair/top 4 guys.

you could probably play smith with mcdonagh but he isn't a top pair guy and that's asking him to play over his head...skjei might be able to do it but then you are weakening the 2nd pairing

we have a ton of new depth now but i'm not sure any of it resolves the need for a top pair guy

If he was interested in coming to NY, what would you guys be comfortable offering Jumbo Joe?

37, but still put up 50 points last year (and 82 the year before).

With our current center situation, do you give him a 2 year deal to keep things settled?

Not sure he is a great fit with our system or wingers, but it's a move I can see Gorton exploring at the very least.
