So he's basically an HF poster?
He could be among us for all we know. Fits the profile.

1 Cup in 80 years, tired of winning what? Participation trophies? Oh yeah man 50 wins 100 points we're making the playoffs......and? Sure it's great and who doesn't enjoy being a playoff team but the cold hard truth is this team had its opportunities and couldn't get the job done, changes need to be made. Or let's just keep trading all of our picks for the slim chance of actually winning another Cup. This team isn't good enough to win it all that's a fact. It's a decent team but the defense is subpar even with a Shattenkirk, and the forward group is deep but lacks game breakers. It's time to change it up, new blood. Younger, faster. I want to build a team that can contend for years, this team as it stands now has had its window close. But I'm sure bringing in some more past their prime stars is just what the doctor ordered, it's worked so well since 194050 wins? Do we get another banner ceremony for that?
If we traded for Gally I would take a flyer on his old linemate Yak
What past their prime players are we bringing in this year? I haven't heard of any.
Most teams that make a conscious decision to rebuild end up still rebuilding ten years later. It's very healthy for a franchise to remain competitive.
Rebuilds only work when the NHL fixes the draft lottery to hand you a generational talent.
and even the with the worst record, there's no guarantee you get the #1 overall pick..

I think it's funny that Redden still gets reactions like this, but people miss Girardi.

Considering making the playoffs as "an accomplishment" in a league where 16/30 teams make the playoffs, is just so far removed from my mentality.
If it gets it done for you, I mean hats off. And I'm NOT trying to argue that we haven't witnessed a great run here. But not just enjoying, but outright celebrating "making the playoffs" in today's NHL is just crazy to me.

People are always going to have the rebuild fetish regardless of what's on the roster.
People wanted to rebuild in 2014 two months before we went to the SCF.
I think people on both sides are overthinking this. Gorton is trying to thread the needle. He is neither signing Thornton nor trading McDonagh. He saw an asset in Stepan that he was worried about declining, while also seeing he had a chance to try a get a player (Pettersson) that could be an important piece going forward. Unfortunately, he didn't complete the final portion of his plan. But, that doesn't mean everyone over 27 is getting traded. OTOH, it doesn't mean he's going to chase centers in free agency that will be overpaid the moment they sign the contract. I also think he saw Nashville's success and realized he has to get more mobile on the backend. He'll sign both Smith and Shattenkirk, and use the cap space to move Staal for a similar bad contract at the forward position.
hence the nhl fixing the draft lottery![]()
If the Rangers aren't going Shattenkirk or a #1(who knows where) or even 2C... how about locking up both Zibanejad and Skjei to team friendly 5 or so year deals?
I like this idea.
Not sold on us signing Shattenkirk. We're hearing from more than one source now that the Rangers aren't pursuing it.
Zibby will get a long term deal. That's in the bank.
Exactly! And this is no spite but you have to have higher expectations. Nobody will deny how hard it is to win. Us it you're just happy to make the playoffs. Well I don't know what to tell ya.
I think it's posturing.
You think teams might not offer a ton if they think the Rangers aren't involved or something?
