So would I.

Please don't mention his name again. I almost had a panic attack. Now I need a beer.
So are you one of them "Cup or Bust" fans which are usually fans who weren't around to fully experience the '94 Cup. So figure anyone who is born from 1984 who missed out on the enormous grief us older Rangers felt while the Islanders beat our ***** four straight years on their was to their 4 Cups.
You have a problem with making the playoffs every year with 3/4's of the time winning at least one playoff round and 50% of the time making it the ECF and once getting into the Cup finals?
I don't know, call me nuts or a "glutton for punishment" but I'm one of those crazy wacky older Ranger fans who has a blast during the regular season watching us win 50 or close to 50 games a year. I also get great enjoyment making the playoffs and watching the pessimists in here cringe when the Rangers end up defying the odds and win playoff rounds even tho we are supposed to lose in 5 to crap ass teams like the Canadians.
Yup but because the Rangers haven't won a Cup, I'm apparently supposed to think "what is the team winning"? Well guess what my friend, as I said a few times the past few days, maybe you should ask that question to Islander fans who have gone 34 years withought even a Finals appearance, have only made playoffs less than half the time(15 times), have won just one playoff round!!. Yes that is not a missprint...one playoff round in 34 ****ing years.
And yet "what are we winning"? Well for me making the playoffs 25 of the last 34 years since Isles last won a Cup, making it to 6 ECF's, 2 Cup finals and winning one Cup is the epitome of "what are we winning"? Well my answer is give me some more of that much much more. Ask an Islander fan how he feels about all that winning he did 35 years ago if he had to than go through a drought like this? I bet some would trade a few of those Cups for some of the enjoyment us Ranger fans have of at least having a chance to win the Cup pretty much every year.
And I have a very strong hunch Gorton is going to put us in position to once again have one of this ****** 50 win regular season, a for sure playoff spot locked up by Februrary and who knows maybe a run for the Cup if we get lucky.
Oh the horror...the horror. or "not winning"......lol
1 Cup in 80 years, tired of winning what? Participation trophies? Oh yeah man 50 wins 100 points we're making the playoffs......and? Sure it's great and who doesn't enjoy being a playoff team but the cold hard truth is this team had its opportunities and couldn't get the job done, changes need to be made. Or let's just keep trading all of our picks for the slim chance of actually winning another Cup. This team isn't good enough to win it all that's a fact. It's a decent team but the defense is subpar even with a Shattenkirk, and the forward group is deep but lacks game breakers. It's time to change it up, new blood. Younger, faster. I want to build a team that can contend for years, this team as it stands now has had its window close. But I'm sure bringing in some more past their prime stars is just what the doctor ordered, it's worked so well since 194050 wins? Do we get another banner ceremony for that?
I'm not discounting Stepan... however, against Ottawa we scored 22 goals.. and lost the series.. I think our top 6 scored maybe 4 of them?
The blueprint McKenzie outlined is doomed in failure. The Rangers don't want to get into the free agency game with the crazy contracts. Fill the gaps in free agency with who? Another Michael Grabner. They dumped Stepan's contract because they were concerned about his play going forward and the NTC would limit their opportunities to move him. $6.5M cap. They aren't getting back into the same hole with a free agent who is older and will be signed for the next 6-7 years. Full NMC.
The Rangers are being "competitive" in that division and conference with this team? Lundqvist will be 36 in March. He was so inconsistent last season. They had Raanta to fill in for him when he struggled. Lundqvist was the biggest culprit in the Ottawa series. Can you stop the puck please? They only paid you $9.5M last season.
The Rangers will need to acquire more kids to make the "rebuild on the fly" work. One first round per year won't be enough for a "rebuild on the fly". They will need more than Andersson and Chytil. Their last first round pick was in 2012. Acquire another #1 pick for 2018.
Gorton needs to keep trading the core players. Girardi was bought out. Stepan was traded. Don't stop. Are the Rangers re-signing a 30 year old McDonagh and a 32 year old Zuccarello in 2019? If the Rangers trade them for younger players(roster players/top prospects)and #1 picks, they have a much better chance of "rebuilding on the fly" and being "competitive". Get rid of Nash. Retain 50% of the money. Move Staal. Bad contract for bad contract. We are going in a new direction Marc. Dan is gone. Derek is gone. It's time for you to move on too. Jordan got traded to Carolina. Eric is on his third team. Change is good. Kreider. Miller. Hayes. The Rangers need to land that young righty D. Klein retires.
Spend the next two years adding young players and draft picks. Shestyorkin comes over in two years. Keep Zibanejad,Buchnevich,Vesey and Skjei. Andersson and Chytil. Hopefully some of the other young players can develop into NHL players. That's the only way to win a championship.
Yeah it wasn't just Stepan, we know that.
And it was more than 4.
Stepan had 1
Kreider had 3
Z bad 1
Nash 1
Zucc 1
Vesey 1
8 of 22 is still not good. Skjei and Holden each had more in this series than every one of our top 6 guys except for Kreider.

Considering making the playoffs as "an accomplishment" in a league where 16/30 teams make the playoffs, is just so far removed from my mentality.
If it gets it done for you, I mean hats off. And I'm NOT trying to argue that we haven't witnessed a great run here. But not just enjoying, but outright celebrating "making the playoffs" in today's NHL is just crazy to me.
If we traded for Gally I would take a flyer on his old linemate Yak
what would it cost to get oscar back?
If we're rebuilding, why are Nash, Zucc, Grabner, Holden, Staal, and most importantly, Lundqvist, still on the roster?

NMC, probably asking for too much, not smart enough to sell high, no one wants him, NMC and no one wants him and NMC
Why are people so fanatical about "maximizing value"?
Sometimes there's more value in just having a near 60 point winger for two years as opposed to the mystery box. Most times, in fact.
You seriously believe these guys with NMC or even NTCs wouldn't want a trade to another team if the Rangers were going with a full rebuild?

With Rantaa gone, Fast or Grabner.
i think mcphee forgot you need players and just wants draft picks lol
i think mcphee forgot you need players and just wants draft picks lol
McPhee just wants traffic cones so he can get 1st overall
But they're not....
In no realistic situation does this team go full rebuild
Hell,
If they can flip a winger for a center, sign Dadonov, smith and maybe Shatty this team is a god damn contender
