RGY
Kreid or Die
Rangers are hiring Ruff per Larry.
Love it but in what capacity

If you are against ever signing anyone after 30 then we're not going to have much sustained winning.
Have to pick and choose. Not everyone is going to breakdown like G/Staal.

No, but this team is also in a different position now than they were when G and Staal were signed.
As much as some people don't want to admit it, the smart move would be to take the hit next year or 2, re stock the shelves a bit more, and then go from there.
There is nothing that this team can do to be one of the top dogs in the division/conference next year IMO. Theres no reason to do a bunch of **** that will only hurt them more in the long run.
I'm not against it at all. I want Shattenkirk bad. But if we aren't competing these next few years, I would like to speed up the rebuild, and trading McDonagh and Zucc and Rick and whoever would help.
Link?

McDonagh + Miller for MacKinnon + Erik Johnson + 1st 2019![]()
This. Either sign Shatt, Smith and a center and go to war or blow it up.
not jt..they keep 1st
and he is our #1 dman and team captain. what would be the issue with re-signing him?
People are terrified of change. They'd rather be decent and continually lose in round two than take a step back and have a chance at being an elite team down the road.
I'm sick of "going for it" every single year and losing out on the cup every single year. It hasn't worked. Do something different.
Maybe just the news that they'd officially signed Ruff?![]()
They had their opportunities to do it and came up just short. It's not like this team has been shy about going for it when its made sense (and even when it didn't, see: Eric Staal trade.)
This was an elite team, but they haven't been one since Game 7 in 2015. The thought that they were a few D away from being just as good as anyone (pre Stepan trade) was very dangerous and I'm glad that management didn't think so either, despite the return for Stepan being light.
Trying to go out and buy the best players available in UFA would be the worst direction this team can go. If they can land good young players via trades that make sense then by all means go and do it, but theres no need to try and load up just so you can finish 8th/9th in the conference.
Yeah, with the return for Stepan not being what I thought it would be, barring other trades that improve the '17-'18 squad, I'm stepping back off the Shattenkirk bandwagon.
Guys, didn't Deangelo have like 5G, 9A in 24 games or so? We might not need Shattenkirk(?)...
