I don't want to be the mush on my first day, but I just had a flashback to how excited I was in 1999 for the draft. Please let whoever we pick first at whatever spot it might be not think all the hot dogs you can eat are proper nutrition for an elite athlete.

Nate is the only big name center I might really target unless somebody crazy became available.

He's the closest thing we'll come to a generational talent, and from a rival no less. To me, he's a Sakic light, he'll play well into this 30s. If you got a shot at a guy like that and have space, you gotta go for it (especially since he's a center).

Saving cap space for Tavares is about the only reason I'd hold off on signing Shattenkirk. But with Nash coming off the books next year I'm not that concerned.

Move Staal too and its not even an issue.

He's not.

Both the top end talent and the depth of talent is better next year than it is this year.

Dahlin is the stud of all studs. If the Rangers are going to suck next year, they picked the right year to suck.

They won't be anywhere near a top 10 pick though.

I have some very serious doubts about Hayes ability to play 2C... hopefully just posturing as mentioned :)

Could just be posturing. If they know we need a top 6 C, price goes up.

That's exactly what it is.

And honestly if those are top-2C's next year, is it the worst thing in the world if the team is looking to re-tool a bit? I wouldn't overpay for Duchene or someone like that. The team needs to get younger

Lmao Tavares coming to the Rangers would be the biggest snake move since KD.

Eh, time for Hayes to step up. If he plateaus, he doesn't get a huge payday, and becomes a placeholder for the center the Rangers take at 7.
