Hey, when you have McDavid to cover up for your team's fatal deficiencies all year long, you have a lot more confidence to just wing it.
4th rounder for Smith and JAM, that's a lot. I don't really understand what Florida is doing.

McPhee is figuring out he has too many defensemen and no market for Garrison, Sbisa, Emelin and Stoner.
Not sure why he went to all the trouble for Engelland either but looking at what he picked up yesterday the guys he should want to go with are:
1. Schmidt
2. Theodore
3. McNabb
4. Miller (who is rumored to Toronto)
5. Methot is his best vet (also trade rumors around him)
6. Engelland (who he's kind of made a commitment to).
....which leaves him with the problem of what to do with Emelin, Garrison, Stoner, Sbisa? I don't think anyone wants any of them which is probably why Schlemko gets dealt if for no other reason than to get the number of extra bodies down to a manageable level.
and Bischoff, Merrill and Reinhart as younger spares.

Yikes. Hopefully the big and strong defenseman is all Sather and not Gorts. I'm guessing in some ways, Murphy is like a McIlrath.

Tavares must really be on the fence for management to panic. Snow's job being on the line, ish, is probably motivating some dramatic moves. If they go without any improvements and end up on the cusp again, Snow is on the hot seat.

Has anyone speculated Stepan to VAN? I get the sense from being a Vancouverite that VAN is looking for offense driving centers and I'm not sure if Stepan fits that image. They want a center for Tanev I believe. Tanev and Miller are good. MIN is likely not moving Dumba or Brodin if they can move Scandella.

i dont believe McNabb is trade bait,
he was featured on the show last night and i believe those few featured guys (MAF, Enggelland, ??) are intended to be kept
