I just dont think Stepan is that guy Tawnos.

They are better off bringing Hanzal back for just money rather than dealing their top prospects.

They did the same with Vermette (Trading at the deadline, signing as a FA in the summer). Then they bought out his contract.

I don't see Hanzal as a solution for Arizona because it's yet again one of those players that has been around during all those losing years. Chayka wants to change the dynamic of the team. Bringing back Hanzal does the complete opposite

Explain how that is false? Go ahead. Is Arizona a team that is ready to take the next step? Are they a player like Stepan away from being a serious contender? Forget even this year, but next? It would be wiser to hold onto their young talent and hope they turn into that player for them within the next couple of years.

You missed the interview Trxjw posted with Chayka all but names Stepan as a target, as well as the RB posted about a deal at last year that would have sent Stepan for a package that included the 7OA that was pulled when the player the Rangers wanted was taken. There's evidence of Arizona's interest in Stepan.

So maybe it isnt Hanzal but I could see them looking at other veteran Center that will do the job of helping the kids and cost a lot less.

They are not ready to compete. It would be senseless to move the assets for Stepan. If the shoe was on the other foot, would you do it knowing your team is still 2-3 years from being serious contenders? I certainly would not. While I love Stepan, he has won nothing here. Why would I trade my young propsects that can become Stepan in 2 years?

Gotta respect someone who sticks to their beliefs even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Could is still a question mark.

Look. I know what your opinion is on this, but it seems clear that Chayka is thinking differently. Will that mean Stepan is a Coyote next season? No guarantees. All im saying is that we know there is interest there.

I wouldn't, but while Stepan hasn't won a cup, he's played in 97 playoff games. That's gotta be more than the entire AZ team. He's been through the battles and knows the commitment it takes to have a deep run. Not bad for a 27 yr old center with term remaining on his contract.

Especially since they reportedly attempted to deal for him last year.

Yeah its really hard for some people to separate "I think" from "I hope".

Coyotes aren't going to throw a ton of money over multiple years for Hanzal and I don't think he wants to go back there anyway.

Hes a bad investment for them.

Where is the evidence that they are ready to compete and justify such a trade?

They attempted to deal for him last year and they are interested in him this year. Multiple reports of that from trusted sources Mckenzie and Freidman.

There doesn't need to be "evidence they are ready to compete" this is not a move to compete. Its a move to survive.

After what he showed in postseason and for Sweden in WCH, do not you think Lindberg may possibly have Top6 complimenary player upside?

We will wait and see then.

Will I be devastated if they move Stepan, no. But I dont see this as having as much legs as some of you do despite the rumors. Stepan is only being moved if its an overpayment and I still believe it is absolutely stupid move on their part.

I'm with Uncle Larry on this whole draft process (and I hardly ever agree with him) being an absolute farce.

Vegas paid almost $20m to each team to enter the league. They should be able to take whoever they want, with no pressure from teams or the league.

So every team took their money and agreed to the draft parameters, but are now playing the "you're not really gonna take Manson though - we'll give you this other pick" and Vegas is almost forced to do it, b/c they can't risk not playing the old boys network game.

We'll see what comes out, but the rumored trades do not seem to be better values than the players not picked. If they've decided that acquiring as many picks as possible is their best path to winning - so be it. But if they're doing this because unwritten rules say you can offend Bob Murray by taking his exposed young dman - F that. That's a joke.

Vegas isn't forced to do anything. GMGM is making out like a bandit in these deals.

If Vegas take Lindberg it paints the Rangers into a corner with any potential Stepan deal in that they almost have to take a young top 6 potential center back.

i don't think it will impact a potential stepan deal that much. lindberg lets us trade hayes for blueline help. but zib, hayes, lindberg as your top 3 is awful. i have no faith in hayes to elevate his game to make that work. if you deal stepan, than that is the temporary solution until you can find a real top 6 center to replace him.

Acquiring Stepan isn't about competing for the cup. They need to make the playoffs. Stepan only just turned 27 and is locked up for 4 more years. You may disagree with the move, but there is a pile of evidence out there that Chayka does indeed have interest in acquiring Stepan.

I love Bobby Mac, but the insiders have been all kinds of wrong over the last week or so. I'm going to reserve judgement on anything reported until I see the actual results.

Can one of these 'insiders' leak the damn roster already
