Vegas will no doubt have 1st round picks already in 2018, plus they can swap some of their bounty in the coming days for more 2018 picks. You don't need to finish bottom 3 to get a crack at #1. They might have 3 or 4 chances at getting #1 next year for all we know. McPhee could have had his cake and eaten it too, so I don't get why being competitive is bull.
They had a choice and I'm not upset they went one way or the other. I just think it has the chance of being a fatal error in not putting an above average team out with the Pacific looking shakey.
Vegas isn't exactly an affluent city for locals. Come 2019 or 2020, I forget when exactly, it's going to be a football town from August to January, maybe February with the potential on that team. Dollars will be spent accordingly.
I hate expansion as a rule. There are too many teams as it is. But I am amped for a Vegas team, can't wait to plan a trip around a ranger game, so I'm not just biased against another desert team. But I will be pissed if we have another sunbelt team dragging down revenue and beating the drum for concessions during cba years.
McPhee was certified genius yesterday because of the potential players and picks he was going to get today. Now it looks like picks and fleury. Wait until the face of your franchise gets sunburn from the goal lamp, see how those green fans turn on one of the few names you market. Now we see the McPhee that lacked the foresight that traded Forsberg for nothing.
