Could be – maybe simply because he covers the team, and like I said, has grown close to the guys?

But I know he grew up as a Rangers fan – and as regards his reporting, he takes his journalistic objectivity seriously.

Basically all but certain they will be picking Raanta now. That blows.

I for one would be extremely happy. IMO, the choice is between Lindberg and Raanta. I think Lindberg has genuine top 9 upside as a two-way center and he is obviously cost controlled. Raanta is an UFA in a year and with Allaire and our incoming pipeline of prospects, I have no worries about the goaltender position.

Sucks to lose an asset with value for nothing, but we're far better off than a lot of teams.

Agreed that he'd be the best choice to lose – I just don't think it's likely. I know if I was GMGM, I wouldn't take him (unless a third team had offered me a real bounty for him).

Really? Not Mrazek?

I'd say this puts the chances of Raanta being selected higher.

Mrazek is too expensive for a backup, and with Fleury there for two more years at least they'd have no shot of keeping him.

I think they'll take Pickard and Grubauer. With most teams having their goalie situation locked up, there's no real point in trying to corner the market on them. There'd be nobody to trade them to.

They'll probably be announcing before commercial breaks that the draft selections are coming right up but keep putting them off until after all the awards are done. We'll find out around 10 pm. That way they'll get more people watching their hokey awards show.

Wish we didn't have to lose anyone, but out of Lindberg, Fast, Grabner and Raanta I'd rather lose Raanta.

Look to replace him in free agency. Let Allaire identify the best choice.

Larry's sources are pretty rock solid. He has inside access to the team. The list is already out there, I am sure the Rangers let him know that tidbit.
