Lindberg, Fast or Raanta could not fetch the 21st overall so there's no way we protected them especially considering we have no contracts that we want Vegas to take because of Staal's NMC. I doubt the trickle after trades have been made or finalized with the selections yet to be announced. There's still lots to work out for GMs after the selections are made.
 
Also, if the rangers traded their first rounder I'm hoping Nash and/or stepan is going to go for futures...

Those mega deals we proposed about stepan going for Arizona's prospects + 1st rounder aren't so far fetched if that's the case
 
Marincin was terrible this year. Do not know what happened to him after solid 15-16 season. He does not hold much value.
 
I refuse to believe anything until announced officially, but my excitement for the NHL draft has significantly decreased if they traded their first again this year

If the Rangers went to him and said, we would like you to waive your NMC so we can trade you to Vegas, he can say no. He has that right. However, would he want to continue to play on a team that no longer wants him? Yes, some have done it, but some have waived in that situation. It's not impossible.

There's a lot of speculation at this time of the year and even the insiders get things wrong as things change quickly when you have a fluid situation like an expansion draft. People love to table 3-4 rumors based on probabilities and hope to get one right.
 
I haven't read this board since last night. Instead of me reading 1000 posts can somebody please tell me if I missed anything noteworthy? Thanks in advance. :)

More often then not they waive if not totally then partially. Few people in life want to work where they are not wanted. We didn't even ask Gabs to waive until after his deal was done.
 
The only way I see Gorton giving up a first is if he's getting another one back in another deal. So, this excites me, since, in my mind, it points to a deal with Arizona. But, that's just me. Tomorrow could be a wild day.
