Before we get all breathless, it's likely that not only do the ducks have a side deal to protect Manson and vatanen from getting picked, but we also have a smaller side deal to protect Lindberg and Fast. Probably the same for Dumba.

Because he has way more to gain here than he would in any deals that would be made going forward. He has all the leverage here. If he's serious about building a competitive team, he would use it.
Doesn't it seem a bit odd hearing The Rangers have been shopping Stepan for a while? No one has squashed those rumors. If the Rangers were concerned about the players thoughts they would have leaked something through one of their guys.
I don't see a way Stepan ISNT traded this offseason. Too much smoke. That's he best way to get a disgruntled player.

Doubt it.
Rangers seem like they're okay losing who ever Vegas takes.
If Vegas signs one of Lindberg/Fast, do we get Offer Sheet compensation? Or no since their rights will be held by LV?

With the amount of teams most likely losing a defenseman to Vegas, Holden may have some value at the draft as a trade piece.
Here's an interesting thought:
The Rangers trade a 3rd rounder to Vegas to select Grabner.
The Rangers trade Holden to a team like Minnesota who will lose a defenseman and is looking to contend this year for a 3rd + 4th at the draft.
The values may be off but you get the idea. With the sheer volume of teams who will lose a defenseman and the lack of quality defensemen available in UFA, Holden may be a smart asset to protect until after expansion. People forget the guy put up quite a few points this year and was one of the teams best defensemen for the first 40-50 games.
Going by the recent-most trades of 25-ish centers, I'd say Stepan is worth two prospects and a pick.
People are going to point to Stepan's point totals, but only 29 centers produced more at 5v5 than he did, and his 5v5 p/60 was higher than Duchene's.
Arizona wont move Keller, Dvorak or Perlini. Duclair regressed, Crouse and Strome didn't show much considering the strength and production of the 2015 lottery picks. Fischer is a stud and likely on the top of a lot of request lists. Merkley is nothing special. Looke is OK.
A good move IMO would be Fischer, Kudla/Hickey and #23. Very similar to the RoR trade
I missed that completely. Always liked Dave. Seems like an old guy, but it wasn't even that long ago he played right? He was around in Dallas or Toronto basically up to the lockout IIRC.
Good luck to him in his dealings down the track.
None.
Let's hope Raanta is taken. Think he might be the easiest to replace, many goalies out there.
That may be a quantity for quality fair value deal... but what does COL really have to show for RoR?
Some signs of life from Zadorov and the worst NHL season imaginable right after?
Rangers need to get a young center that can step into the top 9 right away, plus a 18 -22 minute a night RHD for step.
Dvorak, Wood, 7th or 23rd & 2nd round pick.
Dumba, Kunin, 1st.
Faulk.
That's my take on FMV for Stepan.
I think other teams fans are worried about the Stephen Weiss effect for Stepan- that he might be overrated with his original team due to ice time and chemistry- end up busting somewhere else.
Stepan is a much better two-way guy than Weiss was but you get the idea.
If you have to pick one of those 2, you pick Wood ;P Or Fischer or Garland, want no part of Crouse and DeAngelo is a head case so don't want him either.
