You have to lose something in this process and I'll be fine with keeping our exposed forwards. Sucks to miss out on the return but it's tough to replace those guys.

That thread is classic.

I really do envy their optimism. This board would be in meltdown mode if we were in their situation right now :laugh:
 
Interesting that 2 defensemen that have been wanted on this board were left unprotected.
 
I don't want to lose Grabner. Grabner was a legit 3rd liner (if not better) last season and brings the speed element we really need.
 
Today I learned I'm not an NHL GM because I'd have hard-balled the **** out of Anaheim and made them jump through many hoops by telling them I was going to select Manson if he was left unprotected, and not making a side deal that was any less than a ransom to not select him.

Woe is me.

I have known I was not a NHL GM for decades. I think I am but the ticket security at MSG tell me differently. :)

Really value your opinion, Steve, but I'm confused as to your projected return.

Why would the Rangers - who already have Kreider, Zuccarello, Nash, Miller, Vesey, and Buchnevich - want a return for Stepan that's centered around a player who profiles similar to Miller/Vesey? Are they going to play him on the fourth line? Who sits, Fast or Grabner?

Also, if all of Arizona's centers are untouchable, where are they playing them all? Especially once they then add Stepan to the mix? Are they going to run Stepan-Strome-Dvorak-Keller down the middle? (I assume Domi gets bumped to wing?)

And why are the Rangers, who are more than set on the wing, dealing one of their four legit centers (potentially three if Lindberg gets taken), the guy who until Zibs takes a step forward is clearly the best of the lot, without getting a center or defenseman back?

Like I said - doesn't make sense to me.
 
So I'm for losing Raanta , Vegas will flip him to Winnipeg or Arizona

Rather keep Lindberg , Fast , grabner 4th line
 
New drinking game: drink every time silverfish talks about Manson before the expansion draft.

Regarding Steve's idea: yes, Fischer is good, but why would we add a winger in return? We have no incentive to trade Stepan, so if Chayka wants to add a 1C, proven playoff winner, and potential captain material, he'll pony up. Otherwise, we can look to bring back a good haul for Stepan elsewhere.

Just out of curiosity what if Vegas makes an agreement with a team not to select a certain player, and they still do it anyway, what happens?
