Maybe Arizona is more open to parting with a center prospect than their fans are. Supposedly the Rangers interviewed Makar at the combine. Perhaps that #7 pick is in play to get him?
I'd do Stepan, Raanta, and #21 for Strome, #7 and #35.
Oh man, imagine if:
Stepan to Arizona for Strome + Crouse + ARI 1st
McDonagh to Winnepeg for Trouba +

The teams in the East and their 1c:
PIT: Crosby
WSH: Backstrom
CBJ: Wennberg as a 22 year old in his 2nd season outscored Stepan's career best point total
NYI: Tavares
NJD: Stepan is better than their 1C._ for now
CAR: Stepan is better than Rask
PHI: Giroux
BOS: Bergeron
BUF: Eichel
DET: Stepan is better than Larkin.. for now
FLA: Barkov
MTL: Galchenyuk break out is coming and it seems most non-NYR fans take him over Stepan
OTT: Turris
TBL: Stamkos
TOR: Matthews
There, I broke it down for you myself. There is one team in the entire East that I take Stepan over their 1c.
So just so we're all clear...
I doubt Arizona ends up getting stepan. Clear posturing by JG.
As we've all come to realizec, a deal with Arizona would likely mean futures. This knowledge may convince more teams to get in on the bidding and raise Steps trade value.
Food for thought...
What's McDonagh thinking if the Rangers trade his buddy Stepan after they bought out his mentor Dan Girardi? Business is business but losing two of his best friends on the team won't be easy for him.
If the Rangers do go with a full on rebuild, you have to think Hank would accept a trade to a contender to try and win a cup. Money retained, he would still command a hefty return. Dallas? Edmonton?
If Stepan goes for a futures type deal, I think we should definitely be looking to rebuild. No point in signing FA or keeping Zucc/McDonagh/Nash who have 1 and 2 years left on their deals.
Depends on what futures you get. I think Dvorak gives you 75-80% of Stepan next year. Extra assets help facilitate other moves and open up salary cap flexibility. One way or the other, Nash will be off the books in 2018. God knows, I'm not a rebuild guy but there's a chance he Ranges get enough out of this to stay very competitive.

Dallas has Bishop. Edmonton has Talbot. I have a hard time seeing Henrik moving his family to the middle of Canada.

And as for Strome, he will never be a world class skater but my God, what mitts!
