That's the only thing that makes sense to me. If they bring in Stepan and they have Domi, Dvorak and Strome where does everyone play? Trading one of them makes sense if they get Stepan. They also have Minnesota's pick correct?

I believe Domi played wing primarily this season. If he's a viable center option I wouldn't mind seeing him coming back our way.

Part of the reason the Coyotes are looking to do something dramatic is that OEL has two years to run and if things don't start getting better here, they run the risk of losing him.

I'll go back to my first thoughts on this. I think that Strome might be available if Tippett is calling the shots. Otherwise, the package starts with Dvorak (not a bad second choice)'and includes a second piece (Crouse, Duke etc.) and a first. Coyotes have room to protect Duke and send him as a player to be named later. Crouse and Dvorak are exempt. Dvorak came on during the second half of the season and at a minimum he will be Stepan's equivalent in time. Perhaps more. Crouse is big banger. Don't think Keller or Perlini are available and outside of Chychurn (who is untouchable) I don't like their young defensemen.

I understand exploring the market for Stepan, totally.

But, idk, I don't like the thought process behind this.

Trade him and Hayes and his 6 brain cells gets more minutes which I'm not excited to see.

If the Rangers are moving Stepan for picks/prospects, they might as well go all the damn way and do the same for Zucc, Nash, etc.

As much as Hayes can suck, he's younger, cheaper, and I doubt he has enough value to get back the type of Stuff Gorton is looking for.

You've said these names more than a few times Bobbop. I'd be happy with that deal.

Dvorak/Strome + Crouse + 1st for Stepan

Isn't that in a similar mood to what Mike Richards got? Schenn + Simmonds + 1st? Or am I misremembering?

Rick Nash returned Dubinsky + Anisimov + Erixon + 1st (ew)

Think the 1st is Arizona's? That would be intriguing.

It still doesn't solve the mystery of who the Rangers protect on defense. This deal also allows the Rangers to protect Lindberg?

I mean if they want a young RHD, there's a possibility two of them will be available with Arizona's first. Liljegren will be there, perhaps Makar. Adding a high-end C prospect and a high-end RHD prospect isn't a bad haul, it's just a lot of risk.

Yes, Hayes getting more responsibility and ice-time is a horrific consequence of trading Stepan. I still listen to offers, but I also try to swap Hayes for another similar C. Preferably one with a brain.

They wouldn't possibly be shopping Chychrun would they?

They have Chychrun, Murphy, and OEL. OEL isn't moving and neither is Chychrun. The only young RHD is Connor Murphy. They have young C plus picks so it'd likely be a bit of everything package.

Why is Chychrun SO off limits?
Is it impossible for us to make a deal for Step + which returns him and the 7th?

Maybe Arizona is more open to parting with a center prospect than their fans are. Supposedly the Rangers interviewed Makar at the combine. Perhaps that #7 pick is in play to get him?

I'd do Stepan, Raanta, and #21 for Strome, #7 and #35.
Bold = core of what I offered.
Would make small adds and drop 35OA
prefer Chychrun to Strome, but flexible
think they don't wanna look bad on moving 3OA Strome, expect that might be a dif deal for them

high picks and young promising roster players. A bit different from whatever picks and AHL players. So we're not really trying to downgrade our roster. We're selling high on Stepan, asset management and all. So much stuff happening right now, it's very very damn difficult to move someone with Nash's cap hit. Might as well as hang on to Nash until the trade deadline and ship him off somewhere 50% retained for a pair of 2nd picks and a B prospect or a 1st and a 2nd.

Ellias Pettersson at #7. C/LW

Alexander Wenneberg comparable.

Cody Glass or Casey Middlestadt too. Some really good young Cs and Tim Liljegren will be there too. Hell, maybe Nick Suzuki? They did interview him and Makar.

If the Rangers trade with Arizona, they are using that 1st rounder that they get back to take the D piece. Liljegren, Makar, in play at that spot.

expecting the bold will be too much to expect

Is the roster freeze and trade stoppage between all 30 teams except for LV also include conversations between GMs? Can they still negotiate and what not?

That was my thought. It would fit with the next group of guys they have here. Getting a couple of key pieces for the future will help a lot.
