If I was Vegas, I would just use the negotiating window to talk to all the free agents they want to and then say, "OK, see ya July 1."

They can't pick him. They can negotiate a contract with him and if he decides to sign with them, he becomes their pick from the Rangers. If he decides to not sign with them, they have to pick someone else.

No, that rule only applies to UFA's or RFA's negotiating with Vegas within the pre-expansion draft window.

Yes, and do you know what else changed? They got a bunch of new players in Hagelin, Kessel, Murray, Guentzel, Sheary, Bonino... Their team clicked and Sullivan deserves credit but to claim Sather made a mistake to let him go, is just wrong. Hindsight is 20/20, sure but Sullivan wouldn't have won anything here

I know. I don't think Sullivan would win anything here either. I don't think any coach would, but like you said, in hindsight-- I'd say Sullivan is a much better coach than AV.

Fleury only wants Vegas. Should help Raanta's value greatly.

If LVGK doesn't pick MAF in expansion, PIT is just gonna buy him out. Then, Fleury can go anywhere he wants. Teams won't need to trade for Raanta if they can have a shot at UFA Fleury.

Meanwhile, it was no secret around the league that MAF was going to waive for expansion, so I doubt this changes much of anything regarding Raanta's value.

Use Rantaa to swap 1sts with either Calgary or Winnipeg.

I might wait until after expansion if that move is with Calgary. I know some people say why wait and lose Ranta but if they do the move you just posted you are basically giving up Oscar or Fast to Vegas to move up 5 spots in the draft (21-16)

Agreed, but I think Fleury wants Vegas whether they pick him or he signs. Doug MacLean said a few months ago Vegas knew who their goalie was going to be. Plus, there were rumors Fleury's wife was in Vegas looking at houses/school on the main trade board. I don't even know who else they'd take from Pit that would be worthwhile.

No, use Raanta to add picks, trading up in general is bad in the draft, trading up in a draft as even as this is just dumb.

Seriously people, adding a 2nd + something else or anything similar to that >>> moving up a bit in the 1st round.

Right now it might not make sense to have girardi waive since we won't protect Holden. But if we make a trade before expansion and acquire a d, that spot would come in handy. Just ask the guys to waive.

I'm sure NYR are ready to buy them out if that situation arises.

I know we will lose Ranta, Oscar, Fast, or Grabner but I really don't know which guy would be the worst to lose and which guy would be easiest to lose. They are all assets. I think Grabner was the best last season. Oscar might have more future value.

If we lose Raanta or Grabner, I will be okay with it. Fast or Lindberg will be a bit harder, but even they are just 4th line players who can be replaced. We are in a position where we are not losing a valuable player, unlike some other teams.

Ideal for me? Lose Grabner, trade Raanta. Fast and Lindberg will be huge parts of this team's success going forward if they stay. Fast (no pun intended), cheap, fairly skilled, and they work their ***** off.

Just other folks quoting Friedman from what I've seen, he's saying Bieksa, Phaneuf and Yandle were asked to waive.

Right, forgive me for not trusting Friedman right now, because that Yandle story was debunked. Florida hasn't asked him to waive.

Waiting on a second source to be safe.
