Looks like a 6 team race to the Cup
west....St Louis Dallas and Colorado
east.......Tampa Boston and Caps

I like the idea of no 1st rounder and 2 good prospects(forwards) for a combo of either, but not all of Kreider , Brady, Strome or Fast

Boston...Beecher and Studnicka
St Louis.. Kyrou and Kostin

What 2 from Dallas,Tampa or Av's?

i wouldn’t under estimate the Penguins.

Doubt that gets it done either

Agreed. They won't give up two of their highest ranked prospects for two UFA's.

It would look more like Kreider (UFA) and Strome (RFA) for Kyrou, Kostin, bottom 6 roster fodder/cap dump.

They'll want at least one controllable asset in addition to Kreider.

Playoff "push".

7-8 in last 15. This three goalie rotation thing is clearly working.

Young team - inconsistency is a part of that. As is trying to do too much, making fancy passes that aren't there, risky pinches, etc... This is about what we should have expected.

I'm more about being "in" the playoff race so the younger players can go through the experience/pressure of HAVING to win every night than I am about them actually making it.

Going to be an interesting deadline.
I’m with you but losing to Buffalo when they were on the 2nd of a back-to-back of which the 1st was lost to Detroit, really puts a damper on whatever hopes I had of it at least going down to the wire.

Down to the wire of what?
I was responding to @haohmaru hoping we could at least be “in” the playoff race until the end. Losing to Buffalo last night really kills that hope. Again not saying to make the playoffs but to really be in the race for the experience the youth would get.

Igor needs to take over full time to give them a chance.

Gotcha

I guess when I look at the standings and see we’re in the same spot as the Sabres, I just come to the conclusion that there won’t be much of a playoff push by this team haha

But I understand what you mean

I'd make that trade but do the Blues need a C? They have O'Reilly, Schenn and Thomas.

The upcoming UFA market for forwards isn't all that tremendous.

Top guy--Taylor Hall (28)
Next best--Chris Kreider (29) Mike Hoffman (30) Evgeni Dadonov (31)
Best of the rest--J.G. Pageau (27) Tyler Toffoli (28) Jesper Fast (28) Erik Haula (29)
Sleeper--Rocco Grimaldi (27)

So if Kreider does go to that market IMO he'll do really well. He's a fairly legit 1st line player with some great intangibles (size, strength, skating, goal scoring ability and good in the playoffs).

I see Kreider and Dadonov going to teams that missed on Taylor Hall.

I'd say 7x7 prediction for Kreider- but if you guys are right and he gets more... wow. Talk about why cap controlled RFA and ELC production is so important.

Even though hes 2 years older, I think Dadonov goes for a bit more AAV the Kreider. Since coming back to the league hes been a 25+ goal/60+ point player. Although this season hes a bit behind the point pace.

I’m really thinking the floating of a potential buyout of Hank by Brooks is really the Rangers way of keeping offers on Georgiev competitive.

I’d bet interested teams are saying “hey you need to trade this guy” about Georgiev bc of the situation and this is the Rangers indirectly saying we don’t have to trade Georgiev, if nobody ponies up a good deal then we’ll just keep him and buy out Lundqvist. Idk if they actually mean it.

And honestly I hope they don’t. Buying out Lundqvist is as bad or worse than trading Leetch. Also from an asset perspective I really believe getting what we can for Georgiev now and going forward with Hank and Shesty duo with Hank mentoring and Shesty taking number one role next year with Hank here in case and as platoon guy if needed. I think that’s the move as far as goaltending mvokg forward. Igor is the future.
With only one year remaining on Hank's contract there's no reason NOT to buy him out.

I’m growing increasingly concerned about the David Quinn super gluing on Ryan Strome to Panarin no matter how ineffective he is which is growing more and more apparent as the games get tougher. But no matter what Strome does he is tied to Panarin. He spent two shifts away from him. 2 and that was his lesson the other night. Right back to Strome and Fasr next to Panarin at practice today. The lines aren’t working. They’re a 500 team. Kreider is actually carrying the team right now. He’s a ppg player over the last 25 games.

Strome plays with the best player on our team and is producing NOTHING since the new year. But no change to that set up. Others get demoted but not Strome. Not Fast either. These two need to go if anything to save Quinn from himself.

best shift I’ve seen from Strome and Fast in a month was with Lemieux as a third line the other day where they could actually take advantage of another teams bottom 6

will this lead to a multi year deal for Strome? If it does we will regret it badly. No one is winning anything with Strome centering a top 2 line

which is why I believe the Rangers went after Panarin despite not being a playoff team. They knew the future FA market was weak.

Remember when everyone was saying Strome was just a late bloomer. And that his production wasn’t due to Panarin. And that we should keep him? People here are all about recency bias.

can go back and look but I’ve been saying for months that even though putting up pts Strome is killing us in that spot. Was always supposed to be temporary. The mistake we made was when Mika came back and Chytil was playing so well wirh Kreids and Buchnevich that we didn’t just put Panarin back with Mika and let them develop together. Instead we decided to keep Strome glued to Panarin and we’ve been a 500 team ever since

we could have put Strome on a third line with fast or even with Kakko and I think everyone would be better for it
