I still think there are some 7x7 deals out there for him. I don’t know if they are all teams that would top his list.

So let’s the remaining offers are 7x6 or 6.5x7. That’s $42-$45 million being the range for his services. What if the Rangers came in 6x7, $42 million on the deal? I think there is at least a chance the Rangers would consider that. It’s the lower end of his likely market, but it might not be so low that it’s an automatic rejection from Kreider’s camp.

I find it hard to believe that type of deal won’t be out there for him given what we saw in recent years (Lee/JVR with less years etc.) regardless I wouldn’t go to 6x7 and even if I would do that I’d probably prefer to pay more because getting him to sign 6x7 likely means you’re making up the lost dollars with a fairly extensive NMC.

I think it will be there. But I don’t think the Rangers have to match, I think they’d just need to come close.

How close? There’s some thought $42m might be close enough.

Are the Rangers willing to do that? Eh, I’m not entirely sure there is a consensus on that.

I’d say it’s 65/35 in favor of Kreider moving. But within they 35 percent chance, I think there lives at least a flicker of interest in a deal around $42 million.

$45m, probably not. $47m? Even more doubtful.

But $42m? I’d put that down as a maybe.

I don’t want him at 42M but I have a very hard time understanding how a team can want him at 42 but not 45 when that’s essentially a negligible difference in cap hit that at most will just keep you from overpaying a fourth liner slightly.

this was my same commentary on Panarin this offseason. If you’re willing to do a 10M AAV you should really be fine going to 11M considering the entire difference is just having a 22 man roster instead of 23.

IMO, Kreider is more important to this team taking the next step next year, than one last trade for assets.
This x 10000000

And not just next year. The next 3 minimum. He will be affective for the next 3 and that is when our window should really begin to open. Past 3 years he could still be very good in the 4th year maybe even 5th. But I do not see him being useless at any point in the contract.

If Kreider's willing to take 6M/yr it's probably a yes to bring him back. Some serious donuts get $5M/yr and he's a legit 1st liner.

@Edge share the deets with everyone not just @Pawnee Rangers ... Just kidding...kinda

But I would love to have Kreider stay. I would rather ship out others to make it happen. We’ll see.

In others news TOR is LOL bad. What a choke job that is building yet again...and this year they are in danger of missing the playoffs. That fan base deserves it. Their defense is terrible. Goaltending is AHL level after Andersen, who isnt anything spectacular himself.

Georgiev for Kapanen. Or hey go ahead and take Jack Campbell....lolzzzz

I think it’s a combination of factors. When you save $5ook here, $500k there, $250k in two more spots, suddenly you might have a good chunk of a bridge deal saved for a guy like Lemieux. Maybe there’s a deadline guy you can with salary retained. Maybe you can take on the salary of that fourth line RW to get the LD you wanted.

I think there’s also a mindfulness of other players agents using salaries in their negotiations. Well you’re paying 31 year old Kreider X amount, my client wants 75 percent of that deal. So not it’s another $250k here and there. You turn around and sometimes it surprised you with where and how it comes up.

Now, in the case of Kreider, I think what you speak of is a big reason why there could be a push to get the number as close to $6m as possible, rather than the $7m which will, in some fashion, be out there.

The @MapleLeafs have acquired goaltender Jack Campbell and forward Kyle Clifford from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward Trevor Moore, Columbus’ third round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and a conditional third round pick in 2021. #LeafsForever

f***. Toronto had plenty of pieces and seemed like the most desperate team for Georgiev. Not liking this.

Toronto traded 2 thirds and a young bottom 6F for a “grit” duster and a goalie inferior to Georgiev. Our market is fine.

Clifford is one of the best bottom six types in the league and Campbell is an adequate goalie locked up for two more years very cheap. I think our expectations on a Georgiev trade have always been way out of line since he is a goalie but then again my expectations on the return aren’t that high.
