How about necas and our 2nd for ADA? Necas passes the eye test for me and he's already an effective 2nd liner with definite 1st line potential. He also can play multiple forward positions. Not that I want to trade ADA, it's just that I want a fair return.
I'd want a top-six C, a Kreider-esque prospect and a top-15 pick.

So Kreider is out there for the morning skate. That’s really great news. Maybe does play tonight but even if he doesn’t gotta mean the injury isn’t serious and he should be out there this week

I imagine that they wouldnt throw him out there again unless they were 100% sure he’s okay though we’ve rushed guys back before.

should prompt JG to get his thumb out of his ass and try to strike something sooner rather than later.

To be fair, the market dictates the value of a player...

But the whole "he may not bring back a first" thing is silly.

Pierre compared Kreider to Evander Kane who was traded for a conditional 2nd which became a 1st after SJ re-signed Kane. He made those comments on the Full 60 podcast one month ago this week. Custance is the host. He forgot that Nash brought back a #1 one day before the Kane trade. Nash was a shell of the player he was in his prime and he still brought back a #1, Lindgren,
Spooner and Beleskey. The Rangers had to take back 50% of Beleskey for cap reasons. You could also argue the Rangers had to take back Spooner’s money. Boston was pressed up against the cap and Nash had $7.8M cap hit. The Rangers retained 50%.

nothing to laugh at there. Certainly no argument from me in that case. I just don’t think It makes us better anytime soon moving a core piece like him who brings as much as he does. Certainly not for another Brendan Lemieux type prospect and a late first rounder. I’d need a sure thing prospect to move Kreider. But that’s me.

Lias Andersson’s type?

Yep wouldn't be a bad thing for sure to let him miss tonight even if the main board will take it as a sign to drop his trade value to a 4th and a conditional 7th rounder.

Would you guys be happy with Kostin and a 2nd that becomes a first if the Blues get to finals?

If Kane didn't have the massive black mark on his reputation he would have returned more.

Kreider has kept his nose clean.

Generally speaking, the Rangers have been very conservative with injuries of TDL candidates over the years.

Both McD and Hayes were held out longer as to not jeopardize their value.

If Kreider isn't being held out, it is probably a decent indication there's no real concern about playing him --- at least not more than there would be under normal circumstances.

If it's the Blues, return should either be:
  • Kostin and a 2nd that could become a 1st if the Blues make it to the finals.
  • Kyrou and a 3rd that could become a 2nd if the Blunes make it to the finals.
Both scenarios with 50% retention.

There's a small chance a contender may be interested in Staal next year at the deadline with money retained, but I think those chances are slim. Everyone in the league knows he's cooked so the list of suitors would be very small

The most likely outcome on Staal is he's kept around next year for veteran leadership and to rotate in with some of the younger LD. Just let the contract fizzle out. Or maybe a buyout, but I wouldn't buy him out unless the team absolutely needed the space

You’re right that 1.5 seasons of Staal is too much for a contender but 1 season for a rebuilding team on the budget that could need a veteran depth to protect the “yuts” might be interested if the cost is minimal.

I could see the Blues saying ‘we were in the finals without Kreider’. Maybe the condition is on re-signing.
