I would love to get leblanc but the buch for edm 1st and poolparty is horrible for us. Pool party sucks. If we are trading buch it should be with something else to gain another top end player. Poolparty is and wont be that. Also can't just let fast go. He will be wanted by every team for the playoffs. The guy is a swiss army knife. If we dont want to give him 3m aav then trade him for the highest bidder.
I think in a Draft this deep, if you get a 1st for Buch, take it immediately. Addmittedly I'm much lower on Buch than everyone and really think he's just a third liner. That's a debate I've had many times and still have my stance lol. EDM 1st and Pulujarvi is hopeful though, I think we'd have a lot of trouble gettign EDM to bite on that.

I 100% agree you sell Fast if you don't plan on resigning at any cost. I'd say $3M is my absolute max, and NYr should know his wants by now. If you don't plan on it now, trade him.

I’m still game to trade Buch to Edmonton with half his cap hit retained for this year. See if they’ll give up their 1st and Puljujaarvi

maybe for Puljujaarvi but doubt they give up a 1st. Tough to pry a lot away from these small market teams

Especially in a Draft this deep. Teams will be very reluctant in giving away 1st unless it is PIT/STL/BOS or teasm that know with 99.9% certainty that their pick will be 26-31 without much different from their 2nd/don't need the prospect in win now mode

I feel like that Kreider deal is totally realistic, and will disappoint me. I've stated repeatedly that Frederic is a good player but IMO a borderline NHLer and not something worth targeting. Getting Senyshyn would be a "quantity over quality" move which I hate, but seems reasonable.

I agree - although a Frederic would be nice on a checking line but not the centerpiece of a a Kreider trade. - side note, the Bruins certainly draft the same tough breed of played each draft.

I think it's understandable that we all want the best package possible in a trade, but rentals carry a certain price point because of the unknown length of their tenure.

If you're getting a late first, your goal is to find a Miller, a Lundkvist, a Chytil, a Kreider. Hell, even a Pastrnak. So I'm not someone who views that as just some pittance for the guy we're trading.

If you can also get a guy like Frederic in that deal, who looks like he has a shot to be a solid fourth liner, I think we're probably pretty close.

The thing I'm not sure about is whether there's a third component and how nice of a piece it might be. That's the unknown for me. I'm not sure Kreider has a market value that is as close to Nash we hope. He could, but something tells me he's probably a bit below that return.

Hajek getting flipped isn’t a crazy idea but would need a young F or package deal

He’s been one of the world NHL defenders in the league this year. Now isn’t the time to trade him. I’m concerned about his future. I’d listen, but I’d rather wait. No chance we get a solid NHL-ready forward back.

Not a substantiated rumor but Dan Rosen pushing this along:

Labanc is kind of interesting, probably would be bottom six on this club. Has some history with Lemieux. Looks like is on PP unit 2 in SJ, isnt used on the PK at all. I don't know that he'd do that with us.

big question on fast's contract is where does he fit on the team...he's currently on the 2nd line, i think most want to slot him on the 4th line but HUGE difference in how much you can allocate for him if he's a middle 6 vs 4th liner. I don't think anyone sees him as a 2nd liner once everyone is in place but 3rd liner isn't crazy.

Pay him like a third liner, hope you have the depth to play him on the fourth line, know you can play him on the second in a pinch.

I think he would be a really good addition to play with Panarin.

I think he would make our bottom 6 deeper. Just like Kapanen would. He signed the 1 year deal taking a chance on himself. He is having a down year, which could be partly due to the state of SJ in general. He is on pace for 35 points. Averaging 16 minutes per night. Middle 6 player. Best suited for the 3rd line but could fill in on the 2nd line. I think Kapanen has more talent.

Kapanen’s numbers are very very similar. 7 months younger. 3 more points on a better Toronto team.

I dont know. I could go either way on these guys.

Might be able to get Labanc on a good deal because of the down year.
