@bobbop mentioned Vegas as a trading partner. I went snooping around there messages and the prevailing narrative is that the owner is in win now mode and McPhee overpays. Imagine a package from us that gets us Cody Glass.
Well Edge I don't know how to respond to the point about defenders with anything other than the sentiment that we better get a damn good young forward in exchange for DeAngelo.
But I can't see how we would, and that's frustrating.
I tend to agree with this. But as the Rangers have worked to find a few pairing with great chemistry -- Zib/Kreider and Strome/Panarin -- Buch has been the odd man out. He's basically been riding shotgun on lines where the other two players have very strong chemistry. I would argue that he's still found a way to be very noticeable offensively given that.
That said, Buch and Chytil have had tremendous chemistry whenever they've been paired. Can't speak to their D coverage as a unit. And I know we all like the kid line, but I do think Buch should be put with Chytil at some point. For whatever reason, they've got great chemistry.
For who?
Vegas needs D...Brady and Georgiev?

Georgiev and Skjei for Tuch, Glass and Hague?

I do that in a heart beat but too lopsided for us. I would include Kreider for that package. That solves 2 top nine forward spots for at least 5 years.
5. Other players at all-star weekend think Chris Kreider really likes being a Ranger. The biggest challenge could be what offers they get for him. There will still be an extension conversation. If New York goes five or six years at around $6.75 million per, what will he say?
6. Kreider told a great story last Tuesday about Henrik Lundqvist dominating a shootout competition.
“I could have gone 15 times and not scored,” he said.
Lundqvist may not be playing as much, but he hasn’t lost any of the fire. This is not a confident prediction, but no one would be surprised if the Rangers punt their goalie decision until the post-season — keeping Lundqvist, Alexandar Georgiev and Igor Shesterkin for now. They don’t want to rush into a move they later regret. They may be looking for someone to help AHL Hartford in case Shesterkin goes to the NHL for good.
I just don't know if I buy into the narrative that there's a reasonable chance we move him.
I think the investment is says otherwise, and I think the results do as well. If anything, I almost feel like its taken for granted that ADA is a 24 year old, 50 point defenseman, who very well could be on his way to hitting the 20/60 plateau.
Moving Skjei? Moving Georgiev? Just a trade with Vegas in general?I don't think the Rangers go that direction.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Kreider's agent floated this to Friedman.
For me, I think that is a much better chance than people are thinking. Trouba is not going anywhere. You have what DeAngelo and Fox are ALREADY doing at the NHL. Players like Lundqvist and Keane may well become trade pieces that are used to shore up other areas. As the Rangers are hitting their window, players like Trouba, DeAngelo & Fox will be still young and seasoned. And again, you can see what they are already doing. I am much more interested in seeing how the RDs develop than shuffling them around. After that, I am more interested in getting DeAngelo a suitable partner and seeing what can be done on Trouba's left side, if anything. But you just said there was almost no way the NYR kept all 4 defensemen. Fox sure isn't getting traded. You think Nils might?

How does that piece of information benefit Kreider though?I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Kreider's agent floated this to Friedman.
Stay tuned.
I doubt you're getting a big piece for DeAngelo. If they’re going to move DeAngelo, Vegas makes sense. They have a bunch of LD right now, not much RD
But again I’m not moving DeAngelo without some big pieces coming back. Tuch ain’t that
He's a top 5 scoring defenseman in the league pacing for 60 points. How is that not big piece worthy?I doubt you're getting a big piece for DeAngelo.
No thanks. What are the chances Kreider gets traded but still entertains signing a deal back? 5 x 6.75 like Friedman just wrote?
Maybe the Rangers offered less, and he said that he'd re-sign for that and figures that maybe the public would say "that's a good deal to get Kreider on, bring him back!"How does that piece of information benefit Kreider though?
If that contract price point came from Kreider's camp, why would they need to leak that to Freidman. Take it to the Rangers and tell them he really wants to stay, and if they offered this, he would accept
I doubt you're getting a big piece for DeAngelo.
