Shhhhhh
But yes I like the offersheet idea. Would do 10x7 definitely. Maybe even 11x7. 4 1sts hurt but I guess it's the same demand with Eichel and I like EP a lot more.
Shhhhhh
Aside from the fact Pettersson would be a tremendous add without giving up tangible assets... all my Canuck fan friends & family would absolutely despise the Rangers and I'd enjoy every minute of itThere is almost no harm in offer-sheeting Vancouver. When is the last time we dealt with Vancouver anyway? By the time there is a risk of them offer-sheeting one of our RFAs, Jim Benning will be long gone.
Lol sarcasm is difficult over text. Sorry! For Gods sake, it’s a joke. Lighten up!
WhooshSay goodbye to a lot of our younger stars if they hit their ceiling. Same stuff will happen to us that's happening to vancouver
They can offer him the bank vault without us offersheeting, how is it doing them a favor to force their hand? You think he'd end up getting more $ and we're helping keep it lower? There's 0 chance any offersheet we'd make wouldn't get matched. What are we gonns do offer him like 14 mil? A 10 mill offersheet is just doing vancouver a favour as they'd gladly match that.
Horvat would be amazing here. Perfect fit. Since they laughed at the Buch offer. Thinking something like a top young prospect cost controlled like Nils or Kravy plus a first or two firsts. Or someone like Kakko plus a 2nd or something like that.I was just going to say this, what would it take to get Horvat?
For us we probably aren’t giving up any lottery picks. Seattle is almost guaranteed to be giving 4 top 10 picks in some deep drafts. It would be suicide for them imoSeattle could do it and make him the face of their team
True, but you have to assume we would be getting someones 1st (or 2?) back for Mika, because we obviously wouldn't be able to afford him if we sign EP to a 10M contract.Offersheets are broken for top players. I would not give him one. You are paying multiple unprotected first round picks to pay the guy more than he is worth in the first place. Not to mention the next two drafts are very strong which makes it an even worse time. Trading four first round picks also destroys your chances of adding top rentals at the deadline if necessary. If you want to offer sheet players you need to do it on more lower tier guys - players like Kapanen/Johnsson when the leafs were in a cap crunch and you could have got them for ~4M and a 2nd round pick.
Tuch not going. He’s on a great contract and it will kill their depthDo we want to beat an offer of Tuch, Krebs, 1st, 2nd?
I'm assuming you like Pettersson over Horvat? I mean fit wise as well for the RangersAside from the fact Pettersson would be a tremendous add without giving up tangible assets... all my Canuck fan friends & family would absolutely despise the Rangers and I'd enjoy every minute of it![]()
Yup. EP-Chytil as the top 2Cs would have us set there for a decade. Don’t have to give up Fil to get Eichel and don’t have to pay Zibanejad’d absurd demands. EP would be the dream situationTrue, but you have to assume we would be getting someones 1st (or 2?) back for Mika, because we obviously wouldn't be able to afford him if we sign EP to a 10M contract.
Georgiev, Strome, Robertson for Stephenson, Reaves, Krebs...Thoughts?
someone show them lines with Peterson *chefs kiss*You guys are freakin delusional.
I’d argue it would be dumb and irresponsible to not at least submit a big offer to PetterssonYou guys are freakin delusional.
It's true that Petersson at his age at 10M for 7 years vs Eichel with his neck at 10M for 5 years is more attractive.
I also have to imagine that our next 4 picks should be trending in the 18-32 range. Now, 1st round picks are still important to sustain success, and there's obviously great players found in the late first all the time but... given our timeline... I'd rather move 4 unknown 1sts than Chytil, Lundkvist, Kravtsov, etc.
So IF we're hell bent on acquiring an elite 1C, I would support going the 4x1st offer sheet route over trading for Captain Jack.
Yes Pettersson is like a modern day Datsyuk. He's so creative and pulls stuff off that nobody else would even try, he's also very solid defensively. I think he's just as good defensively as Horvat even though Horvat gets regarded as a defensive specialist. Horvat plays the heavier game but I think Pettersson gets his stick in lanes and checks players much better than Horvat. Pettersson also reminds me of Buch, despite being so scrawny & awkward lol he is a deceptively gritty player at times. He has a bit of edge to him. He's an odd duck like Buch too, he literally rides a unicycle and jugglesI'm assuming you like Pettersson over Horvat? I mean fit wise as well for the Rangers
