I still believe this is a directive from way high up as a result of what happened when the going got tough in that 6-fight Caps game. Buch should have dropped the gloves instead of skating around slashing and whacking. Probably was seen by Colonel Sanders and Dolan as soft and not a winner.

Staal was a good player until his brother crushed him and he had his eye poked out. I don't really see any comparison in them at all really, they're tall?
Yea, Stall was grittier in the corners and in front of the net, much less agile and slower skater, kept it simple in the o zone and with the puck on his stick. Offensively, Miller tries to do more with the puck, has good offensive instincts and vision, he just needs his puck skills to catch up. Oh, and to limit his brutal no pressure giveaways :)

Also why do people assume Buch would have taken a hometown discount?

Hank bled blue through and through, he didn't take a single one.
Yep we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. We all like to think these guys are so happy in the ny area and playing at MSG that they would be willing to take a bit less. Not always the case for sure.

Hope the Kreider deal is a lesson to the organization. Don't sign these guys in their late 20's to long term. especially when you are gonna have to be paying your homegrown stars (hopefully) in a few years.

the moment the rangers signed krieder to that deal we were screwed, after drafting kakko and laff there is no way we were keeping buch....was the return lower then we expected? yes, but we all knew he was gone, doesnt matter that he got 5.8 per the rangers want to give laff, kakko, and krav the ice team....if they dont grow as players it wouldnt matter if we still had buch or not, we wouldnt be competing for a cup

A lot of talk about Nils being untouchable. If Eichel is Healthy I'd move Nils in a second. Nils is unfortunately in a log jam that is a solid 7 years out on the right side. Trouba has 7 more years and Fox will likely have more. Schneider is one hell of a prospect as well. Nils is likely the odd man out among the young prospect chips we have. He should be dangled around the league to help the team in other areas.

The attachment some have to a guy who never played an NHL game on a team that has an embarrassment of riches in that same position is wild. Something has to give and I doubt it'll be Trouba or Fox. If he can play the opposite side he'll battle Lindgren and Miller who are coming a long nicely. 1&2 C is more of an issue than bottom pairing D-men you can fill out with vets or someone else in the system.

If the Rangers look over Eichel's medicals and seem like they can make it work and the difference is Nils as the main Prospect in the deal you take it and run. Eichel IS a top 10 player at his position. Nils hasn't proven anything and again, no room at the inn. He could be great, oh well Rangers will have to deal with Fox, Trouba and Schneider on the Right for the next 5 years. Damn shame.

I also feel the plan is Eichel/Zib/Chytil for the foreseeable future. It might take some help on Fox ($8x8) and Zib ($7.5x7) likely on term but it's doable. All prospects will get bridges. Move people down the road Kreider, Trouba, Goodrow who aren't holding up their end of the bargain and continue with your core.

GM's are good with numbers they'll figure it all out.

I'm also a fan of the Drury changes. Strome, Buch, Howden, and Blackwell were never part of the big picture. Getting bigger and harder to play against in the bottom 6 is fantastic by me. Having all that skill in the top 6 is even better. Let it play out, enjoy the ride. So much to look forward to. If you find yourself constantly bitching, maybe take Aug. off.
