The 2nd part of that tweet gives me more confidence than I previously had. That seems to be the sentiment that's been shared by the insiders on here for the better part of a year as well.

I'm a firm believer that rebuilds can't be fully completed solely drafting and developing. It's the best way to build a core group of young players, but it's not the best way to build an entire contending team. And if we aren't at the point where it's time to start thinking more aggressively when it comes to filling out our roster, I don't know when we will be.

There's a fine line between being aggressive and being stupid though...I guess we'll just have to wait and find out which side of that line we're on.

Everyone already souring on Shesty lmao there is no goalie I’d rather have than him.
People sharpening their knives to ram in Shestys back over Larry Brooks contract speculation numbers he pulls straight from his ass.

No one is a fan of players, apparently contracts that supply surplus value are what are on bedroom posters now.

I get it... but not at $6M

Since he is already arbitration eligible, I'm not sure how much cheaper than that his RFA years would be for anyway, and I doubt the Rangers want to push that route. While they could probably try to find a alternative in trade or UFA, those goalies would carry some cap hit too.

My take, even if that is 1-2M more than it ideally could be, the other alternatives probably are not as good of goalies.

Let’s say AZ offers a 2nd for Georgiev
Can’t deal him without Shesterkin signed or just do it ?
cheap vets in ufa

imo, we should let the hopeful return for goalies go. Going to get a ton for Talbot, Georgiev will bring back good value, if Hank waives his NTC we’ll get a fortune.

I wouldn’t set any expectation for a return on goalies.

He isn't getting 6 mil. He'll get 4.5 to 5 mil per.

You may be correct, yet I think it will be at least 5 as the Demko contract pretty much fits as he too is 25 years old, albeit has played 76 game versus 48 (playoffs included)

So everyone loses their shit for overpaying Goodrow by 500k but wants to bridge Igor instead of locking him up and potentially saving 2-3M a year in cap space?

Only speaking for myself...I'd rather find a new goalie than commit $6M+ let alone the $8-9M+ you are suggesting he may cost down the road. Generally don't believe in committing that much cap to the position, barring a Vezina level season.

I don't know, locking in a starter goalie even if ideally it would be nice if at a lower cap hit seems a little different than locking in the role/position Goodrow is likely to play.
