I mean, 2 years is better than no years, right? On the trade rumors board someone said Carolina wanted to buy out unrestricted free agent years and not sign him to just a 2-year deal like Detroit did. The contract he signed with Detroit leads him right up to UFA.
I find it interesting that there were no deals and they actually chose this roster on their ownWhat I really find interesting with Seattle is that they are forced to make trades because they have so many players. But hired a GM that has a crippling fear of making them. I wonder if Francis had a panic attack with all the trade offers he is getting.
It’s going to be so much closer to the ROR return than it is to the Zib, Kakko, 1st, and Schneider wet dreams their fans have been having.I can't wait to see Buffalos return
Lol he’s trashIncarcerated Bob says we have 2 solid offers on the table for Buch. IB has very good sources in the NY area. Is an Isles fan and was the first to break Panarin to NYR iirc. I know he’s not a verified source but he’s called a lot before
Just one thing, the Yanks have shown they don't intend to exceed a certain luxury tax threshhold and end up paying an extra 25 or 50 cents or whatever per dollar over the threshhold. So in effect they do have a salary cap restriction and cost controlled players are in fact a necessity for them. Gone are the days of buying every top flight free agent on the market or trading for the best players at every position and covering their mistakes by throwing more $ at the problem.Andujar had one great year. Frazier has always been up and down. Neither has shown a 3-year continuous progress like Chytil has here, and neither is the only prospect of note at their position in the Yankees farm system. The Yankees also don't have to live in a hard cap world, where having cost-controlled players is a necessity. Also, baseball isn't hockey.

I see no logic. He told Calgary it was a 1st and 3rd to not pick Giordano. He priced it so high it was no choice at all. But then he doesn't even make an offer to Montreal in regards to Price! They are opposite ends of an idiot spectrum. And Bergevin absolutely rubbed Francis' nose in it today with the presser telling everyone Price is fine and it's like 2-4 weeks.I'm pretty stunned by the fact that Francis didn't make a single trade during the ED, made some baffling, unforced choices from 4-5 teams, and has so far announced nothing beyond trading a career 4th liner/spare for a 4th. So much for reports of "several deals in the can" and Francis saying he had "less than you might expect". If you have zero, just say you have zero. Somehow I doubt Pitlick to Calgary for a 4th was something he'd been discussing with Calgary since the day prior. More likely something that happened between Seattle selecting him and the trade taking place.
I'm ready to go to war with this team as it is currently constructed. If we upgrade on Strome @ 2C, great..if not lets see what Gallant brings the team.
I'd prefer to be real stingy with our prospects. We want to move out these bigger contracts in a few years, well we need to make sure we have cheaper players to backfill the spots. Jones, 1st round pick, Strome. Buch + for a 2C, sure. Otherwise, keep the ship in the direction it is going.
And hired a coach who would do that too. I guess they’re consistent with their strategySeattle drafted a team to give themselves the best chance to draft Wright next year.

Yeah, there’s a few. MacDermid is a punching bag who is so bad on D they switched him to wing. Seattle already drafted a massive, tough D and bottom six. They passed on Clague and Grundstrom who are both decent prospects. And Quennville is a UFA who would have signed a league min two-way deal if they’d offered him one. Couldn’t they flip Gaudette, DeHaan or Zadorov somewhere, either alone for a 3rd or in a package? Taking a UFA you probably won’t even re-sign is just bizarre. Same with Bayreuther. Career AHLer. Why not take Stenlund who at least has 3/4C potential. Those are the 4 major misses to me.
They made it clear that they believe $3M AAV is too much for a goalie. I doubt they have any plan to get a real starterI wonder if Carolina makes a run at Lenher now.
It's a smart move. Three potential franchise altering prospects next year and two more the year after.Seattle drafted a team to give themselves the best chance to draft Wright next year.
Retain half and he is cheaper than what they were offering the guy they traded because he was too expensive.Georgiev would be LOL.
