Buffalo is kind of playing this well if you think about it. They aren't under pressure to sell sell sell, so they're asking for the world. If no one pays, then get the injury right and have him play at a high level and trade him next year for what you wanted all along.

The only push to sell is Eichel's wishes and a really good haul.

Its the opposite actually. If Buffalo waits until next summer Eichel's NMC kicks in, and he'll control where he goes, which makes it tough for them to negotiate fair price. If they trade him now, they can trade him anywhere, but the injury makes it hard to negotiate fair price.

Fair points. Though I think Dunn adds more bite to the group that he gets credit for.

Feels like folks aren't respecting your authority. Have you tried flashing your "funniest poster" award at people? Maybe try hitting them with it?
Funniest poster award from 2013 doesn't have the impact it used to. I don't know why, but it doesn't.

It would seem he certainly needs/wants surgery. I don't understand the rationale of not letting teams view medical records. What purpose would this serve?

maybe they want to surprise teams the player only needs two titanium screws rather than four.

the roster is flooded with dynamic players. They can’t grind it out or defend themselves imo.

I meant that Drury will want to change the dynamic of the type of players we currently have.
bring in hard-nosed, grittier types, even for the top 6, and or another d man with those qualities.
i'm not sold on the rangers down the middle right now.

The problem with BUF holding onto Eichel is him getting the surgery and him never being the same player again, or not playing at all rather. Then you REALLY can't trade Eichel after that, and you'd have a $10M anchor. I don't see how not getting medical records would mean no trade is imminent.

But it's weird, Adams hasn't changed his mind about the surgery. BUF management doesn't want Eichel to undergo the surgery whilst under contract with them. They want him out as soon as possible so he's someone else's problem. Brooks knows a lot but I still think a trade happens either today or tomorrow. Regardless of if Drury gets the medical records.

Speaking of which, a few weeks ago Brooks wrote an article talking about how NYR had and was looking at Eichel's medical shit, so I don't get it

Until he has surgery, it takes 7 months for him to get back into the lineup and misses most of the season and can't prove that he can still play at a high level. Now they are out of time because his NMC moves in and he can become a complete PITA and pick his destination at the same time...

Jack to Buffalo - I am going to play out my contract here but only give 50% effort since you gave me 30% effort trying to trade me when I asked. Now I control where you can trade me to, so you can trade me to (insert team here) now for what they offer or you can pay me to dog it and sink your team for the next 4 years. Come year the last year of my deal I am going to play balls out again and sign my next big contract where I want.

The other aspect is the summer is when Adams will get the most action. Once that cap space dries up, it's gone. So he needs to wrap it up in the next month at best or he is at the mercy of one or two teams with room. And he wants draft picks for Friday. Not the end all be all factors, but it's complicated.

I’ve been on the Eichel train since the offseason started, but if I’m Drury, I’m telling Buffalo to kick rocks until they get serious

Buffalo is holding nothing right now but the right to disclose Eichel's health status/severity

No team is going to offer them what they want until they do, so they're going to have to settle imo.

Eichel, Zibanejad, and Panarin on one team would be some video game shit. Except we can't trade Kreider and Trouba for the second and third OA pick in next year's draft after we get Eichel.

Are they giving us/Minny the info today or tomorrow, so we have as little time with it as possible before the draft? That’s what I would do if I was trying to sell a guy who needs a neckectomy

on a smaller note...

I wouldn't mind signing Erne to a 2 year deal as a 4th line RW/to replace Blackwell.

6245E82B-4874-4A4E-9C54-DEE26FD9ED82.gif Jacob and Chris, how does Buffalo sound?

If Hyman and RNH are getting $5-5.5m per season on long term deals, what will Zibanejad get? Same term. $7.5m? I don’t see him as a player who should make $4m more than those guys where he could be asking for $9m.

I’d think at this point Minny and Rangers both have a pretty solid idea of what they are willing to give up as a package. I don’t think medical records would do much except clear up the extent of how severe/non severe the injury is.
