Wasn’t there one rumor where the owner wanted to send him west? That offer checks that out.

Yeah at least outside the division. Again, I don’t get the reasoning for that given that Buffalo won’t be competitive for years.

maybe because we’re in the same division? I really don’t get why that matters in the long run tbh were not rivals or anything. Who cares if he’s traded within the same division? Buffalo isn’t competing any time soon
If this was truly the deal it would have been completed over the weekend already.
Smith is 30 and 1 year from UFA - that’s a player they are taking for Eichel? Krebs is the only player of value and he’ll always be hurt.

If we can avoid the traps of free agency, we could really find a bargain later on when teams are trying to clear cap. Strome should be moved. Same philosophy as Buchnevich. Create cap space and playing time for Chytil. Goodrow 3rd line center.

Laf-Zib-Kratzov/Kakko
Panarin-Chytil-Kakko/Kravtsov
Kreider-Goodrow-Gauthier
Barron-Rooney-Blais

Can anyone explain to me how we will be able to trade for JE and be able to resign Fox / zibby next season ?!? If the rangers do make a trade I would assume they would add for Buffalo to at least retain 2 M per. Otherwise I don’t see how they can fit him

You likely cant extend mika(without a massive mika discount), but you can recoup some eichel assets in a trade for mika.
You also end up with a younger center ( who's an injury risk) who has a ceiling slightly higher than mika's current performance.

Theres definitely some good points to it. Theres some bad points too.

Psssst. We would be trading Tony this offseason even if he was a model citizen this offseason. There’s no place for him in this team. He’s a surplus.

and judging by how the market has treated players with one year left, who need a new deal, we wouldn’t have gotten shit for him either.
Heh.

Well let's see... if he weren't a pariah maybe this would hold a bit of water... also if our former regime didn't play it OPENLY the way they did it might not... oh, and THEN, if our insane owner didn't fire the architect of our rebuild and replace him with with a guy who just dealt Buch for pennies on the dollar you MIGHT be right.

But, sine none of that is reality, we are left with your statement.

How should the previous regime have played it?

Put him back in the lineup and said "nah it's good but we're listening on offers!"

How should the Rangers have handled the DeAngelo situation?
