Of course, but he’s not signing for $1m when comparable players are making $3m. He should get less, but not $2m less. Just my opinion

Not on a 2 year deal but he will get less on a one year deal. I don’t think they want a 1 year though ideally 2 years for like $2.5m per but we need to clear cap space

Somebody has to be bought out. There is no miracle trade coming.
If there is one player. Who?
I also would sign Buch to a 4-5 year contract.
Hold on to K until your overpaid out the nose.
Give Names every chance to put up points and trade.
ADA and Lemuix are interchangeable parts.

I’d actually rather buy out than bridge, honestly.

I mean Winnipeg wasn't the tire fire we were defensively but they were not good as a team last year. I don't see him getting much better due to switching teams, but if he gets put next to Morrissey he could get carried to respectability.

hey, havent been on since before free agency... just wanted to now come back and say i told you so to everyone who said to me that panarin wouldnt sign with us for somewhere between 11-12, specifically 11.5  i may have been wrong about karlsson (actually quite happy with trouba), but i was still right about panarin

Jets must really like Pionk....wow.

One of the Jets top scouts is based in the Minnesota area, and they've done a great job picking in that region. So they really know their guys in that area.

But still. That's a tough tough contract to swallow.

That is a horrible deal for the jets. 3m for a 6th defenseman who cant play defense.

Sorry guys that I didnt post the tweet from carp. I cant find it but I see others have put up the nytimes article. Thanks everyone.

Is this Buchnevich two-year deal source coming from a Cyrgalis article a little over last week ago saying he's likely to get a two-year deal?

Because otherwise, a good amount of digging ain't bringing up anything saying he publicly said he wants a two-year deal.

Carp also said nothing of the sort over his last few articles and not on his twitter.

Some help?

also: heres a possible route the rangers could go to get cam compliant.... hudon seems to have fallen out of favor in montreal and he is a good (cheap) enough return for strome imo. i personnaly don't get all the strome hate. on twitter many hate him for his high shooting % with nyr, but it just averaged out his low one in edm. BUT, we need to move out salary, and he should be moveable in a deal like this. as for mtl, this makes sense to me because they always seem to be needing centers, and strome would give them a better chance of making playoffs than hudon (just sneaking in playoffs always seems to be the goal of molson and bergevin)

names is another player that is a prime cnadidate to be moved becasue of his overpayment. in this deal, ottawa gets a useable player, while also pays out less salary this year. good ol eugene melnyk. for nyr, macarthur can be placed on LTIR and therefore allow the rangers to exceed the cap this year.

also, i'm assuming fox will start in minors, but he does not need to. i was thinking he starts year in minors, and if rangers find a deal for shattenkirk early, he gets called up, if not, he gets called up at deadline anyways (whether shattenkirk is dealt or not) as nyr bite the bullet and will could buyout shatty next summer (or deal him at deadline, while fox plays less than 30 games so condition is not met in trade). i think rangers could ride out smith contract this way, or atleast lesser the impact of a buyout next summer.

rangers can also keep kreider in this scenario, possibly trade him as rental, keep him as self rental, or resign. the could also trade him anyways for a good return if it's there before season. an idea of a good return for me is a budding young forward who can't contribute like kreider right now, but could meet/surpass his production in another year or 2 (would be a deal with a team looking to contend)

anyways heres the link: Getting Cap Compliant - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

i think partially it is coming from that article, but also following NYR forward contract trends. they also went the bridge route with step, kreids, fast and hagelin off the top of my head recently

There is a difference between that and the player saying that they want X term and Y dollars, which is what was said earlier.

im confused....did buchnevich flat out say he wanted a two-year deal? cause if he did i would think a deal would be done by now. players know bridge deals bring lower salaries and they if he wants two years he is betting on getting quite the raise after it so he shouldn't have too much of an issue with salary on the bridge. if he hasnt flat out stated he wants 2-years then im going to have to assume he wants long term while rangers want bridge. the other way around would be out of the NYR MO and totally backwards.

If pionk got 3 mil a year which is absolutely insane, what’s ADA getting? What the hell is winnipeg doing? That is a horrific contract

Guarantee we all here watched pionk more than any scout in Minnesota did. We just watched a year of his garbage play.

No, a poster above said Buch stated that. I haven't seen any quote from him (Buch) in regards to that.

also, going to go all elliotte friedman on youguys here and give you my "thoughts"

1) i would trade kreider. going to be 29 when hia next deal starts, and with this "build" as JD calls it, we need to leave the albatross contracts behind us. panarin makes sense, since he's a top-15 talent in the league, but we made this mistake with staal and girardi, let's not make it with kreider and taint his rangers career by having him underperom the last 4 years of a 7 year deal at 7M per.

2) on that note, i may be the only one in the entire fan base who sees value in staal. he's a leader, and i truly do believe he helped deangelo. that pairing passed the eye test, and deangelo played some of his best hockey with staal. as for girardi, he's my favorite defenseman, and while he may have been overpayed, i still think we sorely miss his shot blocking and grit. he had a little resurgence in the 16-17 playoffs against montreal and i though he may have saved his rangers career. i get why we had to buy him out, and he would have no place in the already crowded right side now, but i still miss him and think we lack something since he's been gone.

3) while on the defense topic, i so wish we resigned yandle. he was my second favorite defeseman. we would have never signed shattenkirk, and i would have rather had yandle over shattenkirk anyways.

4) i may be way too optimistic, but i think we have a chance at playoffs this year. trouba heps out the defense, panarin is our best talent since jagr, and i think hank will be back and revitalized with the new additions. perhaps a rejuvenated hank is the biggest addition to the team. still not sure how the defense will look system wise with ruff back there, but trouba is a start to improving the D and hank knows it. he'll be ready

5) i'm curious as to what we could get for georgiev. i'd be interested in something around puljujarvi + for georgiev, if smith doesn't work out in edmonton. lots of possible routes

If Pionk gets that DeAngelo will be pissed if they hard ball him

You both have been posting here long enough to realize the different situations Pionk and ADA are in.

Tony D will probably have to take a crappy one year deal, but with another good season, and arbitration rights he will be able to stick it back to the team.
