I would take a Names and Smith buyout over a Shattenkirk and Smith buyout. The latter option cripples the Rangers with $10M+ in dead space next year (with Girardi & Spooner).

A Names and Smith buyout gets you a $1.3M & $3.3M hit next year, plus Girardi's $1.1 & Spooner's $300K. Which equals $6M in dead space.

A Shattenkirk and Smith buyout gets you a $6M & $3.3M hit next year, plus Girardi's $1.1 & Spooner's $300K. Which equals $10.7M in dead space.
A Shattenkirk buyout also gives you a couple of million to add around the edges.

SMith will be the buy out

We’ll sign LEM at 1, ADA at 1.5

We’ll pay to move Names

Buch signed at 3.25

We’ll have 1.5-2 mil cap space

Buch has already stated that he only wants to sign a 2 year deal and will get 3m aav.

Krieder will be traded bc his next contract will be outrageous.

Names or strome will be gone also.

Lem and ada will get 1-2 year deals for around 2m aav each.

If we wait on krieder to be traded at the deadline which gorton has already stated he doesnt want to do, we still need to free up space.. shatty I believe will have trade value at the deadline so it will be Smith or Staal being bought out. My money is on Smith. Staal can still rotate in and reach the young players. We are not a playoff team... YET

Where did Buch say that?

Is this recent? Cause I have not seen anything saying he wants that.

Seems like a pretty big talking point that would be discussed here. And yet...it hasn't.

Source?

Never has Buchy ever said anything of any substance to anyone let alone come out and tell anyone he only wants a 2 year contract

Sundqvist just resigned with the Blues 4 years $2.75MM. 25 years old only had one decent season (last season). Hes also a center and it buys out a couple UFA years.

With all these contracts being signed by somewhat comparable players (Kapanen/Johnsson) I cant see Buch getting much above $3MM on a shorter term deal.

Good number and term for Sundqvist, who had a good year transitioning from 4th line to middle -six minutes.

Of course, but he’s not signing for $1m when comparable players are making $3m. He should get less, but not $2m less. Just my opinion

But realistically, what choice does he have? Kevin Labanc is also worth more than 1m, but sometimes players make due with what they get.

For DeAngelo it would be an interesting option. Sign a 1-year deal for 1m, and gain arbitration eligibility next year to get your big payday

Just from my perspective, I’d take the 1 year deal for $1.5m-1.75m or 2 year $3m per season deal. Those would be what I would propose to the Rangers.
