He threw the puck towards the boards with an "outwards" motion. Can't do that without closing your hand on the puck.

Again maybe another angle shows that, but that doesn't show that. It shows him from behind swatting the puck out of the air absolutely, but doesn't show any hand closed on the puck.

If you believe it does show the frame where it shows it, otherwise its just personal speculation.

Again maybe another angle shows it or during the game live it showed it clear from the other side but this OP clip doesn't show that, just people assuming he did.

Uh it clearly shows him closing his fingers on the puck, windmilling with it, then throwing it off his teammate's leg

He caught a puck shot on net corralled it and threw it in another direction. Would be pretty impressive if he somehow managed this WITHOUT closing his glove on the puck.

I guess the refs thought that rule only applied to pucks on the ice surface and not in midair. :dunno:

Where, show me the clip or frames of it? You cant see that from the Op clip, maybe you seen another clip that actually shows it bc OP does't. I'm not saying he didn't, I'm saying that clip doesn't show it.

He grabs the puck from the goal line, brings it to his chest, then tosses it left

There’s multiple different angles shown on BSSW…there is a reason Nashville chose the most ambiguous angle (and not that ambiguous, imo) to put in the tweet

I can't find it online, but the overhead shot shows how insanely egregious this one is. He grabs the puck, pulls it to his chest, and then throws it out in a completely different direction.

I'll keep looking.

Absolutely no excuse for this one going uncalled.

Catches the puck here:

Throws the puck up into the Nashville player in front of him here.

It wasn’t called a penalty therefore it isn’t a penalty. Good legal play and a hell of a save

Not sure if your new, but Refs miss penalties all the time. A missed penalty not being called is still a penalty

In this situation, a player isn't allowed to close his hand on the puck, which Josi did. Refs just missed it, nothing new, but it's still a penalty.

If you break the law, but the cops don't catch you, does that mean you didn't break the law?

Second obvious illegal play of the puck with the glove by Nashville that I can recall in recent weeks.

This is a hell of a save, and I would honestly believe that Josi had no intention of carrying the puck here. His first thought is probably "oh f*** my hand, that f***ing hurts" followed by "wait it's still in there?"

But rules are rules, and skaters aren't meant to catch the puck.

He closed his hand/caught it which is the penalty not just the throwing part

He closed his hand on it. This is about as textbook of a call as you can get.

Players close their hand over the puck to this extent all the time. But the expectation is they’ll drop it more or less straight to the ground, in which case it’s (almost) never called a penalty.

But grabbing the puck and then throwing it out of danger, that’s what gets called more often than not.

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for

Which is exactly what Josi did here
