Roman Josi with insane, illegal glove save on Johnston

Second obvious illegal play of the puck with the glove by Nashville that I can recall in recent weeks.

This is a hell of a save, and I would honestly believe that Josi had no intention of carrying the puck here. His first thought is probably "oh f*** my hand, that f***ing hurts" followed by "wait it's still in there?"

But rules are rules, and skaters aren't meant to catch the puck.

Yea. No ill will toward Josi, he's just reacting and doing what he can. This is 100% on the refs.

I think part of it is the emergence of social media. That in general has given people a sphere to bitch and give opinions on all sorts of things. Also all the camera angles available now. Reffing is tough and there will be bad calls. Those can become part of team lore and and to culture in a way though. Every team has that one call they can bond over and lament

There is no such thing as a missed call. That is a concept made up by sour grape fans
So which is it? It's a good legal play and refs are ALWAYS right. But they make bad calls sometimes?

Incoming dumb post trying to clarify how you're not being a hypocrite and are actually right. I know you're trolling, no one is THAT dumb.

Seeing the overhead replay.

thr calling responsibility is on one of the linesman or other ref. The goal line ref could not see that he closed it and threw it

I was drunk on the first part and forgot my roots. My father was a referee. My father’s father was a referee. My father’s brother was a referee. I, too, am also a referee. We are judge, jury, and executioner all in one. Whatever we say is the law. The rule book can be thrown out or reinterpreted at any time. Sometimes I’ve penalized some of these goofy ass looking zoomer kids because I don’t like how they look. They look like jackasses and that is their problem, same as anyone on the other side of my call

I've officiated over 1800 games. A good ref can acknowledge their f*** up and I've admitted to some of mine to players/coaches in game. People more times than not respect that. (though you can't do it all the time or they lose faith in your ability to call the game)

Shit happens, I wasn't mad about this, and I applaud Josi's effort. But this was a missed call. It would've been a penalty outside the crease, and should've been a penalty inside the crease. Stars won either way so no sweat off their backs.

You had us in your first couple of posts, but a paragraph like this makes it clear you're trolling. It's better when you're subtle about it.

Ref behind the net should be fired instantly. If you can't call that penalty, you have no business being a professional in this league.
Even before this no one even tangentially involved in NHL officiating should even be allowed to THINK about hockey ever again in their lives. The philosophy of NHL officiating itself is one of the greatest crimes ever conceived by mankind.

You expect Nashville media to know anything?

The amount of butthurt I see about the home team being homers with their three star selection that generally means nothing in the grand scheme of things? Hilarious. Also Dallas fans talking s**t about the media of a team that theyre only five years older than is rich.

As for the topic, 100% a penalty. I honestly cant believe the refs missed it. Looks cool though.

If it doesn't mean anything why give it to the guy who did nothing all game?

That's a penalty anywhere on the ice. Penalty shot in the crease.

f***ing embarrassing reffing job to miss that. Completely unacceptable.
Don't players grab the puck all the time? Why would it be a penalty anywhere on the ice?

You can grab the puck and drop it right away. If you throw it or skate with it, it’s a penalty. What Josi did wasn’t a penalty. It should have actually been a penalty shot for Dallas, regardless of how good of a save it was

Thinking about the time it was actually called, awarded a penalty shot IN THE PLAYOFFS WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE, and Barkov missed

great play. saved a goal. should have been a penalty shot though. not sure how the refs missed it. was very obvious that a player made a glove save and that player was not the goalie...
Everything was fine until your last sentence. The penalty was that he threw it. If he just drops it at his feet and then plays with his stick or feet it’s a legal play.
