Understanding coach speak, the kid was fat and out of shape before he got hurt, and hasn't worked on that, when he has had all the time in the world to do so.

Kid needs to find a gym and sleep in it..

I have never been even close to this shape at any point in my life. In fact i have never looked as the same species as this kid

Same, I think he looks to be in decent shape...still perplexing that they're not able to find any time for him.

The Russian squad going all lefties and forgoing any North American talent is a glimpse to the mindset of some of these coaches. It's a delicate balance of not wanting to waste Amirov's time in Russia vs forcing him into an uncomfortable, alien situation in North America... BUT at the same time, he'll have to come over eventually. Unless they're content with him playing out the contract, which sounds insane btw, what I'm really surprised about is that a middle ground hasn't been put into motion - why not have him play in another European league like the swiss league which is chock full of former pros? This isn't an issue that suddenly popped up and with how insanely limited his minutes have been for consecutive years, something's gotta give.

With the Marlies we have SDA, Abramov and Gogolev which will help having some other Russian speaking teammates who have NA experience.

On the NHL roster, unfortunately just Mikhayev and even then it's unlikely he's around by the time Amirov is up...but maybe 2 years in NA will be enough for Amirov.

cookie, i will never, ever, ever read what u have to say.....your run on sentences, which turn into books and ....ugh

paragraph dude, its a device world...

In case you missed it the last time you said he was fat

Just noting.. posting a picture of a guy from half a year ago, doesn't mean that he came back from an injury in shape. I'm not saying fat... I'm just saying, a pic from prior to an injury, doesn't mean he's in shape after the injury.

He played 3 VHL games with normal ice time and then goes to KHL and plays 2 shifts in games. Either let him "regain shape" in minors or play him ..

The poster i replied to said he was fat and out of shape before the injury. This pic from the summer would indicate otherwise. He has also claimed before that he doesnt workout. Looks cut to me.

Yes, clearly he was in decent shape 25 weeks ago. I can't say much about just before the injury. He looks cut, clearly worked on his diet and cardio... I'm not sure he looks like he's done any lifting though.

Lets see what youre packin

lower body power and stamina is way more important in hockey. there are plenty of players(if not that majority) that have upper bodies like this guy including auston matthews. this is a strange new topic of interest lol
