I suppose there in lies the benefit of owning both the NHL franchise and the AHL team. Kind of feel for the independent owners though, they want to win and NHL teams want their players developed. Sometimes those 2 things don't go hand in hand.
The Wolves have also had issues with "playing the kids" in the past because they want to win and that means veteran AHL scorers soaking key time.
But the vet limit is really going to make it interesting for them to try doing this for sure.
I wonder how much they didn't like the Hurricanes affiliation. I still don't understand what happened between Carolina and Charlotte. It made way too much sense and Charlotte has a very sweet setup with their own remodeled Coliseum.
I had read that they felt they needed "market diversification" rather than having the two teams relatively near one another, vying for the same entertainment dollars. I'd have to dig around to find the blurb, maybe it was just speculation.
I know that 2.5 hours drive time on a good day doesn't seem like encroachment to me and should build some organizational fanbase strength as people want to see the prospects or want to see how the prospects turned out. *shrug*
I was wondering if that was different because Bloom signed his ELC & ATO on April 18, 2022 and Savoie signed his ELC in July.Yes he would. All you have to do is go back to last year when Josh Bloom was one of the black aces after signing his ATO
