He looked bad in that brief clip I saw of him on the ice today. I mean he didn’t even shoot and when do the playoffs start?

At least a week. Jets play the Leafs on the 14th in the last regular season game.

Lol, just watched the post game interviews. Wheeler getting testy about their effort being questioned again. Its pro hockey Blake, effort is expected. Being happy with trying hard if for the kids.

Felt like he reined his response in towards the end.

I wonder if there's anything in reality to Maurice's assuagement that the Jets have improved in any way at preventing chances off the rush.
Either way, his post-game reminded me of the coach of the Swiss national U20 team when they were about to play Canada and he said they had no chance.

Edit: found it

I forgot how funny this interview is.

If there is, let’s keep in mind it’s been against the Flames and the Sens, not the Leafs or the Oilers. Both of them would have lit the Jets up tonight.

Yeah, he also kind of alluded to that when he said they can't allow the same number of rush chances as they did previously to Edmonton.

Beating the emotionally checked out Flames and then into another loss to the Sens just feels like they didn't even break the losing streak.

we traded laine away and look what we got.....how many players do the jets trade to make this team work

Laine stats 2020/2021
in games played in WPG......2 goals....1 assists.......1 +/-
in games played in CBJ......10 goals....9 assists...-30 +/-
totals................................................12 goals....9 assists...-29 +/-

Pierre Luc Dubois stats 2020/2021
in games played in WPG.....8 goals....12 assists....-2 +/-
in games played in CBJ.......1 goals......0 assists....-3 +/-
totals................................................9 goals.....12 assists.....-5 +/-

Laine...............................................12 goals.....9 assists...-29 +/-
Pierre Luc Dubois...................9 goals....12 assists.....-5 +/-

It's a wash except Laine is a -29 plus/minus vs Dubois at -5

First period was ok, but then we started coasting inexplicably for significant parts of the game, in spite of trailing. Not our worst effort, but altogether too familiar.

Credit to the Sens though, they are playing well and I believe have the inverse record or close to it over the last ten games. That's good for them, but all the more frustrating to me as I watch all that youth come together in dynamic fashion. Contrast that with the Jets/Mau's penchant for aging grinders, glue guys and assorted other hanger-ons.

I don't doubt for a second our record would likely be worse and we may well have missed the playoffs had we gone with a substantial youth movement. I'd even agree we should have had a guy like Lewis on the team, but not multiples of the same thing as we've seen year after year. It would have been an excellent year to work all of Stanley, Samberg and Heinola into the rotation regularly, not sporadically or not at all in the case of Samberg. Pionk, DeMelo, Morrissey should have been the core and you mix in the rest, including a vet (does Poolman count as a vet?) or two on occasions. Full acknowledgement of requirements hanging over their head for the expansion draft, so I get you have to play Boo-Boo, but really? Same could have been said for the forward lineup. Gus and Vesalainen could have been given regular roles to show what they had. Let Gus cut his teeth as 4th C. Of course anything meaningful would mean not putting CSW out there for 25 minutes a game, so it's a ludicrous suggestion on my part.
I'm afraid I don't believe there's a switch to be thrown. Hellebuyck remains the wild card who could lead us to (limited IMO) success but I'm not seeing it in his play of late. He may have a switch though. But our top two lines haven't been particularly stellar for the last 20% of the season. Don't know why, don't know what, but the team isn't working well now. Meesa sad.

in the past month Helly hasn’t risen to the occasion and actually looks pretty shaky, teams going out fast if Helly can’t steal them a couple games in the PO’s!

If we do play the Oilers, prepare for a world of hurt. The Oilers dominated us when we weren't hot garbage, now imagine what it would be like when our goaltending sucks and our forwards having absolutely no creativity and finish. I think a sweep is likely.

I hate everything right now.

Ps, dear Blake Wheeler. Stfu and take the criticisms.

Hadn’t watched a game in a few weeks now at least, just losing so much interest. Was in the tractor in the field all evening so thought I’d give it a shot again, two goals on three shots, seen enough, change the station.
I can’t see how this team goes anywhere in the playoffs.
On another note, how does anyone enjoy listening to Edmonds call a game? My goodness he’s bad. Constantly sounds like he’s coughing up a lung, and some of the weirdest phrases, and expressions you could think of.

It is truly shocking to me how far this team has fallen.

Yes, the D getting gutted - with little to no answer from the GM - has not helped. A couple years ago this team would run teams out of the building.. they would gain some momentum and pressure the other teams in waves. But watching the game today they could barley get to the other teams D before the puck was out of the O zone. It is sad.

Their effort level is definitely in question at this point when they are losing to almost every team and look like they don't care.

It is almost like they are purposely tanking to play Toronto in the playoffs and avoid Edmonton.

hit it on the head. to witness this team sink the way it has is hard to reconcile. even with the D losses we shouldn't be this bad.

Many fans are getting tired of watching this team play like this with all this talent and just not show up to compete .

I can understand fans losing confidence in the team and questioning renewing their season tickets.

Jets will have to make a coaching change as the bare minimum in showing fans they are trying to turn things around.

does anyone really think a Mo has this team prepared to play game in and game out never mind playing and winning, whole team looks disinterested and that’s on coaching!
