I still can't believe it. RIP.

We have estimated 5’700 + people making the way up to Calabasas to the crash site. From LA and Orange Counties. And even more people after church this afternoon. People need to understand this is a Wayne Gretzky of the basketball world. He’s adored in this entire state. So good luck with the traffic HF. Stay safe!

Growing up as sports fan in 90's/early 00's (I was born in 85) , Stein and Kobe were such important parts of NBA and now both are gone within weeks of each other

2020 has been off to horrific start for many around NBA and game of basketball with those losses

This is the type of passing where you remember where you were, what you were doing and how you found out. We’ll never forget this day.

Kobe still had so much good to do for this world, it’s so unfortunate.
Hearing this news reminds me exactly what it was like when I heard Roy Halladay was killed flying his own plane.

He was on the way to the Mamba Academy in Thousand Oaks for GiGi's game...

I'm so heartbroken for his family... RIP Kobe, Gianna, and the 3 others.

RIP legend. I’m heartbroken really. Wasn’t really a big fan of him or the Lakers, but a legend is a legend.
Looks like one of his daughters was killed with him. They were heading to a basketball practice.

ABC being shown how to do proper reporting by TMZ would have been laughable ten years ago, but here we are.

RIP to everyone on-board.

We all understand exactly how big of an impact this is. We’re all sports fans and even non-sports fans have a clue how big this is.

Except there are plenty of examples of where that type of situation has happened in sports. And do you really think those fans want to be watching a game or those players playing after hearing that? Literally nobody would've objected had they called the game.
yeah like when darryl kile passed and they canceled the cubs-cardinals game not very long before it was scheduled to start

The reporting on the tragedy today was essentially:

RIP to Kobe, survived by his wife and four zero three daughters. Our heartfelt condolences.

Honestly **** anyone that contributes to this, trying to capitalize on a tragedy for ****ing clout.

It was an "everything is happening" moment and "reporters" got caught up in it and began to spew misinformation. Sad.

RIP to the greatest I've watched.

Also, piss off to people who "report" news before anything is even confirmed...that's the kind of society we live in today.

Iconic, game-shaping player who is still having an influence on today's game. Crazy.
What's amazing is his influence around the world. This is not just a North American thing. Basketball is global. Neymar, one of the best soccer players in the world, literally used his hands to spell out 2 4 after scoring a goal. He was somebody that was known around the world. Not many people can say that. An international celebrity and a great person overall. His impact is felt not just in LA or in the USA, but world-wide.
