Was at that game, remember the knucklehead went after Lions CB Eric Carter. Guy is damn lucky that Bomber players were trying to hold the Lions back. A few of those Lions players (Kidd, I remember Benefield was in there too) were treating him like he had a death wish.

It's funny you mention calling in sick, I remember that game was the day before Rememberance Day. The Bombers killing it and most people having the next day off made that easily the most liquored-up Bomber game I've ever been to.

I believe the next year Eric Carter joined the Bombers.

Fell asleep before I could pick up a stream and woke up after 10:00 so I missed the whole game.

4-1 looks like a nice decisive victory. Nice to see scoring from secondary sources like Gagnon and Welly.

From reading this thread it sounds like the refs were horrible..a disturbing trend around the league.

Pavs looks to have played well.

LLW line had 5 points so I'm assuming they had a good game? Or is the stat line misleading for them?:help:

5-2 down the stretch should get this team in whether that's first in the division or eighth in the conference.

Jets need to get out to a good start against Florida on Thursday. While they might appear to be an easy win, Florida is actually 6 -4 in their last 10. Jets can't take them lightly.

Pretty much the whole team played well. Hainsey had a couple of bad gaffes, and Jokinen completely wiffed on the puck on a semi-breakaway. Lots of good plays, Wright seems like a really smart guy. He totally read what Miller was going to do with the puck. It was funny, I was thinking "wtf is Wright turning that way.... oh that's why". He was looking at Miller stick and knew it was going the other way.

Wellwood continues to show he's a damn smart hockey player. Everyone was doing a line change except for the puck carrier in their zone and Wellwood. Now you'd think that Wellwood would prevent the pass to the side with the benches where all the Sabres players are, but instead he protects the far side preventing a possible breakaway. There wasn't a Buffalo player sticking around, but you never know and he didn't have time to check. You don't pick up on that stuff on TV.

Santorelli had a few good plays, actually our whole bottom 6 played fairly well, making plays and being a threat. Lots of creativity.

I don't know if it was by design, but on the PK Burmi and Kane were both forechecking hard. I've always loved that. It worked quite well, ate a good 10 seconds off the clock.

Defensive zone coverage seems to be improving, but it still needs a lot of work. Weak side coverage, covering trailling offensive players in our zone, and lifting sticks. It really comes down to simple basic things.

Ryan pulock was at the game:

Great experience at the jets game! That crowd is something else!

For you stats nerds and Burmistrov fans, Jim Corsi was also apparently in the building.

One of the Jets most complete games this year. Strong effort in the first and they just kept pressuring until the goals started going in. They tried to play a little prevent in the third but I thought they did a good job of limiting Buffalo's chances.

Refs were "woefully inconsistent" to apply a Noelism. Luckily the Buffalo PP is terrible. Kane and Burmi were very good killing penalties. Nice to have Wright back on the PK too.

Pavs was great. Made some nice saves on a couple of Oduyan free pizzas and basically didn't give the Sabres any life. The one goal against was a fluke bounce in off Wheeler.

LLW were okay. They got hemmed in their own zone a few times. Ladd's goal to make it 3-0 at the end of the second was a beauty - Little with a nice play to gain the zone and feed Ladd the puck. They would've picked up points for Wheeler's empty net goal, so that pads the line's stats.

The team can't afford any more than 2 losses the rest of the way if they're going to have a chance...

Decent game. Poor Pavs can't seem to get a shutout this year. Still have to watch the rest of it and I might not be able to until I get back from Vancouver.

If the Jets put the exact same effort in against the rest of teams they play this season I will be more than happy regardless if they make the playoffs or not.

I hope Wheeler buys him dinner and some drinks for that goal. Pav was so close to a shutout.

One thing I also liked is after the empty netter they should some class and kept the celebration level down.

I put all my vCash in on Jets tonight. Glad it worked out. There is still joy in joyville!

That was Gags first goal? I could of sworn he had a couple from before. Maybe the flood gates are open? :sarcasm:

Great game by all really. Joki didn't gain my attention much but didn't do anything regrettable. Standout for me were Thorburn by far; have to give credit for his game and he doesn't get enough credit sometimes. And Opa Gagnon Style....this kid is not terrible, I wish some stop saying that. He played a good game overall and there was a reason Noel had him out here in the final 2 mins. Burmi, Bogo, Hains (except for a couple plays), and Clit were very good. Stu was the physical force he should be. Getting more impressed by Tangradi game by game.

wheeler was in position, and while the result was regrettable, he should have been nowhere else

i agree on thorburn

hes used almost primarily as a fighter, and gets so little ice time a game

yet, when he is used, and giveb ice time, he always seems to be in position, and make nifty passes, and set up the play

santorelli, thorburn, peluso would be a dangerous fourth line....

Can anyone please summarize what Santorelli was saying in the post game interview that someone alluded to as being "out of line" in the game-day thread? Never saw it.

He wasn't really, I was just joking. :) He gave pretty generic responses. I just think he has a good 'tv cop' name, much like Sergei Bobrovsky.

See below for context:

Winnipeg Jets score more goals than Buffalo Sabres, win game
-your old fashioned recap

NHL Zone Entry Data: Winnipeg Jets 4 - Buffalo Sabres 1
-Garret's-very-own seasonal tracking of the Jets' zone entries

EDIT: the Sabres was spelt S a b e r s by one of my editors by accident and due to HFBoards auto-correction it won't connect the link properly...
So, I replaced it with a google shortened URL... hopefully that will fix it

No individual Fenwick data up still... Will update when Alex finishes.

I enjoyed when Thorburn decided he would like to be a part of the boards... Goes in for a check absolutely flying, to find contact with no one. Solid game by the Jets. As much as I am neutral towards the Negotiation, I really hated watching Ott take him to the ice like that. He's just got such an innocent face.

Looked like a solid win by the jets, I did feel their play was sloppy but another strong second period outing

Hopefully we can keep the momentum going into Thursday.....

i hope you are being sarcastic in your last paragragh
he was probably throwing it at foligno who slashed burmi after the game ended

who cares, empty beer can?? wowwwww thatll leave mark:shakehead

oh and great first shutout tonight by pavs

throwing beer cups/cans at opposing players is one of the most classless things I can think of, especially to a team that's already down in the dumps

nevermind the sabres and their collective feelings; its just a wrong thing to do period.

who did he throw it at?
if it was ott, kaleta, or, foligno it was the smartest thing you can do

if it was someone else, ill agree with you

There is no excuse for throwing anything at anyone. Period.

Still happy about this win - after the last two games, the effort level has really been high. Bodes well.
