Rielly’s response to Greig was…

Having a response was the right thing to do.

Having a response that takes you out of the next 5-6 games, when you are the best D man on the team, probably not the right thing to do.

Happy Keefe stood up for him.

I’m not really bothered though, as the group as it’s currently constructed isn’t going to achieve anything anyway, and something needs to be a catalyst at some point for some change.

Even happier that Keefe stood up for Rielly after the game as well.

People on the mains are hilarious, there's a couple dudes saying he should be arrested.

There wasn't even an injury on the play FFS.

So apparently what MO did was th worst thing the NHL has ever seen in th history of the he NHL
The backlash is brutal. This would be considered a normal Tuesday for guys like Marchand. The inconsistency with the league is really tough to watch. Just assuming what this suspension will be at this point but I’m guessing he gets over 5 games. 2 for the hit and 3+ for the uniform he wears

The response was fine. The little Sens boy learned a lesson he should of learned long ago.
And we should learn a lesson that if you do this in period 1, you win by 5 and the little shiite disappears.
Reilly is in the position because Reaves, Bert, etc NEVER, do their job.

A lengthy suspension may be a bit of a blessing. This team will be owned, once again, in the playoffs. Perhaps now they can look at selling off a few pieces instead of giving away the future for a band aid now.

Outside of Senators fans I don’t think a lot of people are hating what Rielly did. A lot of former players have come out and defended him rightfully or wrongfully

I agree entirely, what I was intending to imply is what if the main boards as it stands today had to react to 70's or 80's hockey?
If that’s the case, it will bar fights like someone will
Challenge another to a bar fight somewhere. And both parties will show up.

Which is good to see. I meant media more than anything. Still guessing he gets a hefty suspension. Hope I’m wrong.

Sick of getting shafted while funding the league with all the revenue.
As long as we have this gutless NuHockey PC Corporate Management whose entire goal is to make money while not offending anybody nothing will change. It's a reflection upon how soft society has become and it's why I barely even watch hockey or the Leafs anymore. Between the woke intermission programming and the perimeter no hit game it's not enjoyable.

The only hockey worth watching anymore is late round playoff hockey, where the men are separated from the boys. This version of the Leafs, management and the team alike, just don't have the stones to ever get to those late rounds because in PC Toronto it's baked right into the cake from the get go.

It was an embarassing response by Reilly. Using his stick as a weapon, is pathetic. He could have dropped the gloves, but the game was over anyway. TOronto is soft, doesnt care about winning and it showed last night. Reilly would never have done that to Tom Wilson or anyone else who is tough. It was a cry baby move from a soft team, completely made sense given this team has no pride in winning tough playoff hockey or vs non playoff teams dont even show up.

I think the more interesting aspect of this is that I have not seen anyone defend what the Senators player did (other than his own teammate, which doesn't really count), because it was a reckless action on his part.

Right response by Rielly. The action just needed to be toned down a bit.

Lapse of judgement on both their parts. Rielly for the excessive crosscheck to the head. Greig for hammering a shot into an empty net with 5 seconds left and carrying on as if he wasn't going to face any consequence.

Totally agree with you about Keefe. Glad he had Mo’s back. Hopefully Brad and Shanny do as well when Morgan gets 6+.

Ever since the Shanny era, the Leafs have always played nice with the league. They need to start flexing their muscle with the league…or at the very least, stand up to them. No wonder the team is soft, they take after their superiors (crazy that Shanny is soft as jello after the way he use to play)

I know this reads like Don Cherry on a bender but...I find it hard to disagree with any of it.

I thought it was justified to what he did for that bushleague slapper.

It sucks that he's our best d-man by far and will definitely hurt the team for the 5+ games that he gets.

I don't like any of the options.

I'm not happy with it, but it has nothing to do with the strength of the response.

Confront him. Get in his face, drop your gloves and give him about 1.5 seconds to respond and if he doesn't, go at him. But don't use the stick.

It was a response, yes, so probably better than not doing anything and then going out with guys for a drink on the other team afterward. BUT, the fact you hit the guy from the side with your stick, shows a LOT less toughness than confronting him without a stick.
