Imagine how whiny and pathetic the main boards would be if this site existed during the 70's and 80's. Losers.

The team should be Cup or Bust and not about making playoffs.
They won ONE series in the last 7 yrs. TB missed the playoffs 7 yrs ago and ended up with the Best record in the league for one season, won TWO Cups and also made ONE Cup Finals, while having Stamkos and Hedman in their prime when they missed the playoffs.

This league has no idea how to call penalties or suspensions. It's bias and it's gotten worse.
Don't be pro Leafs on the main boards. You'll get banned just for that. We're just a bunch of whiners to a lot of them and there is no winning.
The bias is real.
People have such a hate for the Leafs that no matter what happens there is no point in trying to convince.
Mo should probably get something for it but we've had guys out for weeks or months with injury and other teams just get fined.
The Sens guy turtled after doing a really stupid thing.

I think if this board existed during the 70s and 80s where society was generally a lot tougher. Think even Sens fans would say Greig deserved it. For started Cherry would be scolding Greig in the post game for being classless. Sens Vets like Giroux would probably give Greig a lecture after the game. And the refs would had just given the green light for Reilly to keep punching him. It will also be a line brawl and another brawl when it restarts.

I didn't say a response wasn't needed. It wasn't the right one and now we'll miss our best defenseman for awhile in the midst of a playoff battle.

The team will make the playoffs, I think the emotional and psychological effects of these kinds of actions pull a team together for when the games actually matter, in the playoffs
If Rielly gets 10 games, he gets 10 games. The team will rally while he is gone and will be a closer team because of it
The coach supports it, every player in the team supports it and the fans support it

I’m good with the suspension whatever it is. The guy was asking to get his face filled in. Rielly just obliged. Unfortunately it ended up being with a stick, but so be it. Well worth it.

Incidents like this are an x-factor that can't really be predicted. This could very well unravel the Leafs season based on Rielly's lengthy suspension or snap the team into a play for Morgan, build chemistry kind of moment that makes them stronger. Or neither, and they go .500 and continue on an up and down one game to the next and otherwise flat line.
When it comes to extra curricular incidents, the risk factor would almost always tell you never to do anything. Don't scrum (to take an unnecessary penalty) don't fight (to risk an unnecessary injury), don't engage. But we have seen countless times in hockey when these can be team building moments.
Don't know what will happen, but we'll see. Morgan made a very loud statement that you can't clown Toronto for fun and not face some consequences. Now his teammates have to bail him out.

Anyhow, this game cements what I've been feeling for a while. Playoffs may not happen and if we move picks for anything.. disaster. Our D is unusable. Team D unusable. Nylander fell off a cliff. Tavares' hands turning into stone. We should sell this year. Next year will be just as bad or worse.

The problem is that there are so many cross checks to the head that only got 0-1 games.
Matthews was 2.

I could see 3 games. But the option of 6 is just dumb.

I agree entirely, what I was intending to imply is what if the main boards as it stands today had to react to 70's or 80's hockey?
